I think he’ll get a shot to punt here.
 
With 105 scholarships there’s really no reason not to carry many options in the kicking game, even if it means individuals just for KO and individuals just for PK.
 
You need characters to win a National championship.

Buck Buchanan gets to have a starring role every Saturday.

He did both in HS. I don't imagine he'd be a "real" option there, but nice to have an emergency punter.
 
Because I have a problem I looked at PFF's kickoff metrics and found Buck's numbers:

Average Distance: 72.2 yards (1st in FBS)
Hang Time: 4.26 (2nd)
Return Rate: 7.1% (3rd)
Kickoff Grade: 91.1 (5th)
Average Field Position: 24.4 (14th)

We have an elite kickoff specialist folks!
