My apologies, didn't realize this was behind the paywall on 247 until now...
After helping New Orleans (La.) Edna Karr to a 14-0 record and a 5A LHSAA championship in 2024, defensive back
Maurice Williams has again been a key in the Cougars' 12 game winning streak in 2025. They will face 10-2 Catholic in the semifinals of the Division I select playoffs this Friday night.
Williams was able to take a quick break from his successful senior season on Wednesday to make his commitment to Colorado official.
"This program believed in me so I'm putting my trust in them as well," he said of his decision to sign with the Buffaloes. "That's why they were my top option."
Williams changed his pledge from Liberty to Colorado shortly after taking an official visit with the Buffaloes in June. He returned to Boulder to watch Colorado's season opener as an unofficial visitor. Georgia Tech, Houston, Ole Miss, UCF and Washington are among the other programs that offered Williams throughout the course of his recruitment.
"My main takeaway from my visit was how the energy from the fans was top tier... the people of Boulder really have a lot of love for CU football," Williams previously recapped.
"During my visit, I hardly saw or experienced anything different (from my official visit). The love from the staff was still the same and very consistent," he added. "One message I received from the CU staff was, 'Can't wait to get up here, man!'"
The 5-foot-11, 172-pound Williams is expected to play cornerback for the Buffaloes. He is a three-star prospect currently sitting at No. 45 on the Louisiana state rankings on the 247Sports Composite.
"One area of my game that has continued to evolve is man coverage skills," he told BuffStampede.com. "Man coverage has been a big part of my game this year."
Edna Karr has at least seven other 2026 prospects that are signing with an FBS program: running back
Tre Garrison to Washington State, receiver
Xavier Owens to Fresno State, offensive lineman
Leon Noil Jr. to Mississippi State, defensive lineman
Richard Anderson to LSU, cornerback
Hayward Howard Jr. to Texas, safety
Aiden Hall to LSU, and athlete
John Johnson to Washington State.
