UNLV narrows coaching search
Everybody's favorite coach scoop website is saying UNLV will hire Franchione.
Which means Hauck will be the new Head Runnin' Reb
ESPN's Rumors page is suggesting it's going to be Hauck.
Much rather believe ESPN than the "scoop" Hauck it is!
Barnett it seems will have to go the Div IAA route to get another job... No one is going to touch him in the high profile Div 1A
Time heals wounds but he did pretty much trash our program... He's a good coach though and will show it if he gets another chance.
Why does everyone say Barnett is a "good" coach.
He was 49-38 (56% wins) at CU and he was 36-44-1 (44% wins) at Northwestern.
He was 85-82-1 (51% wins) during his 14 year BCS coaching career. He has gone to 6 bowl games in 14 years and won 2 of them.
Scandals (gambling at Northwestern, recruiting at Colorado) have followed him everywhere he has coached.
I just don't think he's all that "hot" of a coach. He is not the kind of coach who is going to get boosters excited, which is going to make him a very hard sell to ANY Div 1A team. He's also going to be 64 next year, which makes him that much older and that much tougher to relate to younger coaches, younger players, etc.
If Barnett wants back into coaching, in my opinion, he should try to get a Div-1AA job - win like crazy there, and then try to move back up to the majors.
We have pathetically low standards now....GB, relative to Danny, is Pete Carroll....
Was removed from coach scoop website. As if they never said it.
Don't get me wrong, the guy had some very good years at CU and one year that I would consider "GREAT" (2001) but otherwise he was nothing special at all. Likewise at Northwestern he had one very good year, one great year - and the rest pretty bad.
Winning 56% of your games at a school certainly doesn't qualify as "good" in my opinion. And having an overall record of .500 isn't "good" either. That is pretty much the definition of average, as far as I'm concerned.
But, he is now a rich MFer....god bless him.
Well now Montana has an opening!
