The play of the corners?
Cody's lackluster play?
Mo Lucas putting it together?
I expected a great running back, although I didn't think his name would be Rodney Stewart.
I thought the secondary would be absolute junk and they have been one of the bright spots of the team this year.
We'll see if I still feel that way after one of them has possibly the toughest assignment a corner could possibly have in the nation this coming week...
I am going to say one that you didn't apply I apoligize for saying this is how much better Speedy has played than Scott. Scott just looks slow in hitting the whole.
I've gotta go with the play of the corners here....since that was mine and many other people's biggest concern going into the season...as of now, they're no concern...until after you play missouri
Tie - Secondary play and Stewart
Both very pleasant surprises I might add.
Yeah, that's been the case. I did not want to say Scott disappointing play because it's not like we have not been productive from the RB position. I have a hard time banging on Scott when the guy in front of him has been so good.
People are writing off Scott way too prematurely. But that's not what this thread is about.
Right now it's got to be Stewart. He was the "throw-in" RB in this class. He was the guy who *might* get a chance to return some kicks, but that Polk & Scott would be the highlight film guys. Well, that shows what this group of chowderheads knows.
Cha'pelle is #2 on my list. He's having a monster year.
Sipili and Obi's non-existence is the third surprise for me. I honestly expected those two guys to have phenominal years. Obi hasn't played a down yet, and Sipili has been very ineffective.
#4 would be Tyler Hansen. I don't think anybody expected him to play at all.
The thread states" Biggest suprise".
Scott's struggling as he is is a BIG suprise to most. I'm not saying I thought he would go for 1500 a game but looking at his numbers,it's a big suprise.
Now,speedy and the play of our secondary has been a very nice suprise.I think our DL has got more pressure on the qb even though the sack numbers are down.
Biggest surprise? That there are people like Buffocrat out there somewhere.

No joke where is the fool we need to ban the idiot.
Corners are a surprise, but I have to go with Stewart. Who would have thought preseason he'd be carrying the rock let alone the featured back? Preseason i would have thought maybe he'd be returning some kickoffs or something. Maybe even redshirt.
I was thinking about Hansen and about how DH can be sneaky about his gameplan. So I wonder what else is going on that we dont know about. Then I thought about DS and his ailing problems.
Now, I'm just throwing it this out there see if it sticks; what if, just what if, DS is actually fine but DH wants him to not show much on gameday. What if he knows what games he can win and what teams are probably too tough and he doesnt want to show the teams towards the end of the season too much film on DS. SOoooo, what if DS suddenly has a great run after next week to end the season on a highlight?
I know, perhaps wishful thinking on my part, but with the way they waited with Hansen for Kjuco, I wouldnt be surprised if its all DH's plan to have DS breakout for the final 4 games.

Spell it like that again and you might go with him.:smile2:
Buffwings is smokin something.
I like Buffocrat. Though I'm not necessarily lockstep with his ideas (for all I know he's a husker troll posing as a Buff fan), he presents them in a rational fashion. He's good for the board, in my opinion.
He irritates me, and he smells like troll. I put him on my Ignore list.
I believe they make tinfoil hats in one-size-fits-all these days. I think the Hansen thing was done out of necessity. They realized there wasn't much of a difference, if any, between Hansen and Ballenger, and that Hansen had a bigger upside potential. They have two QB's in the upcoming class so they wanted to create some separation between them.
If they could get DS rolling, they would have by now. I really think his problems stem from being a little dinged up and the line simply not opening any holes for him. Get that guy a hole, and I'm convinced he'll do marvelous things.
The injuries. The Buffs have suffered more than their share this year. It's really impacted the o-line production, although I think the young replacements will get it together soon.
Poor special teams play. Except for JFly's KO TD, the o/t FG against WVU, and punting in general, the ST play has been subpar.
Improved DB play. A positive, for sure. They've been pretty solid all year.
The frosh, both r/s and true. Speedy, Cunningham, Hansen (tho limited time), Scott (early), the r/s OL, et al. There are some young men who came to CU ready to play, and they've contributed already. Building a nice foundation for the immediate future.
i asked mo lucas' dad specifically about obi and he said that he just isn't ready yet.
