BOULDER - Basketball’s Askia Booker and skier Camilla Brautaset were named CU Athlete of the Week on Tuesday for the week of Feb. 3-9.

Booker, a junior guard from Los Angeles, Calif. (Price), led Colorado to a two-win week over Washington State and Washington in Boulder at the Coors Events Center. Averaging 23.5 points, 6.0 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals, it was the first time in Booker’s career that he netted back-to-back 20-point efforts. Against the Cougars, he scored a team-high 26 points on 9-of-12 shooting (.750), including three 3-pointers and a team-high five assists and three steals. Against the Huskies, Booker tied a career-best seven assists, while putting up 21 points and five rebounds.

Brautaset, a freshman nordic skier from Oslo, Norway (Oslo Handelsgym/Heming), took fifth place in the women’s 10K freestyle event over the weekend at the 2014 Jade Enterprises New Mexico Invitational in Red River, N.M. Finishing the race with a time of 35:40.5, Brautaset was just one second shy of placing fourth and 14.6 seconds away from a podium finish. She now has two consecutive top five performances in six races this season.
