After dogging it a bit in their last Sunday matinee and taking a tongue lashing from their head coach the Buffs came out with much more energy for this afternoon tip. The Buffs controlled the game from the tip to the final whistle and put together an 82-52 blowout victory.
“You know, anytime you win by that kind of margin at home you feel pretty good about things,” head coach Tad Boyle said after the game. “I thought our advantage with them was inside and I think Josh [Scott], Wesley [Gordon] and Tory [Miller] proved that.”
The Buffs three-headed monster in the frontcourt combined for 34 points on 10-of-15 from the floor, 29 rebounds and seven blocks, Scott leading the way in the points category with 18 and Gordon contributing 15 to the rebound numbers.
The other storyline for the Buffs on the day was their three-point shooting, Colorado was 10-for-23 from behind the arc on the day once again showing their improved perimeter game.
“It helps, as post players we need it,” senior forward Josh Scott said. “Especially since I get a lot of attention and double teams. When we can shoot it, it scares people away from doing that more… We’re cashing out right now, so pick your poison.”
The Buffs lead the game from wire-to-wire and, save a short stretch in the second half where they got sloppy with the ball on offense and relaxed a bit on defense, they played Colorado basketball. The team hit all of Tad Boyle’s magic numbers (hold your opponent under 40 percent shooting and out-rebound them by nine each half) and in-turn they got themselves a runaway victory.

Get used to seeing this guy’s name here. Aside from a fluky game against Iowa State where the ball just wasn’t falling for him, Scott has been masterful for the Buffs, making his big numbers game in and game out look easy.
