Even during his recruitment, Phillip Lindsay was one of the most entertaining players I’ve ever had the chance to chatting with and, ultimately getting to know. His energy and passion for football, for life, come through at all times.
Give Lindsay a chance and he’ll find a way to represent his home state, Colorado. Coming out of Denver South High School, Lindsay stepped on campus and immediately brought a sense of pride back to the locker room—pride in having “Colorado” across your chest while playing football.
With that in mind, I spoke with him at CU’s media day and had the chance to ask him hard hitting questions like, “Why do you love Colorado so much,” and, “Where’s your favorite place to eat in Boulder?” Yes, Lindsay and I discussed the important things in life as we inch closer to the Rocky Mountain Showdown and the kickoff of the Buffs’ 2016 season.
Anyone who likes Pizookies and The Buff is good by me, obviously. But the biggest thing to come through in speaking with Lindsay was the connection that he has to the most vocal leader on the defensive side of the ball, Chidobe Awuzie. Having your two most vocal players on opposite sides of the ball is huge, but having them clearly have much a special relationship can only benefit the culture of a locker room.
Oh, and can we talk about his hair? It’s amazing and…you know what, we’ll save the hair talk for another interview with the possible starting running back.
