I wonder what happened to him after the JE years. IIRC he was a pretty good recruiter? And it has been a minute, but I also thought he did a good job of coaching? Then he just kinda disappeared

Fwiw, I do like the idea of Matt Russell to replace Rick George as AD.

Matt Russel is doing just fine in Philadelphia thank you.

Sanford promoted Smart to LB coach. He and Smith are now tag teaming all LBs, sharing ILB & OLB.

The JE era probably had a pretty good staff. The problem was the CEO position was lacking.

That staff was better than pretty good. Some very good coaches there and Kanavis was one of them.

Problem was a Head Coach who had never even been a coordinator much less a head coach. Offensive coordinator had never been a coordinator as well. Defensive coordinator had one year as a co-coordinator.

Add to that JE and EB were both hot heads. Didn't have anyone there to keep things on an even keel and focus on managing a game.

There are potential CU HC hires I would love, another tier that I would like, another tier below that that I would try to talk myself into, and a tier below that that I would hate.

There’s a tier below that where I quit my CU fandom. So far it’s three guys- Art Briles, Scott Frost, and Vance Joseph.
