LOS ANGELES — The University of Colorado volleyball team put up a fight, but was unable to come away with a victory as the No. 7 USC Trojans bested the Buffs 3-0 (26-24, 25-14, 25-21) in the final match of the regular season on Friday afternoon at Galen Center.

"We played some very high level volleyball today and the result was some closely contested sets against one of the top teams in the country," coach Liz Kritza said.

CU finished the regular season 17-13 overall, marking its first season above .500 since 2006. The Buffs also recorded a 9-11 record in the Pac-12 Conference; showing marked improvement from the 2012 season.

Taylor Simpson recorded 16 kills in the effort and hit .220 while posting three block assists. Nikki Lindow had the next highest kills total for CU with eight kills and also had the team’s best hitting percentage at .375 with two errors on 16 attacks. She also added a team-best four block assists. As a team, the Buffs had 40 kills and hit .195.
