BOULDER — The University of Colorado will host the Pac-12 Conference Cross Country Championship, its first Pac-12 Championship in any sport, on Saturday, November 2 at Coal Creek Golf Course in Louisville, Colo.

Admission is free, but due to course regulations, pets will not be allowed. Parking in the main lot at Coal Creek Golf Course will be permit only parking and will not be available to the public. Spectators will be encouraged to park legally in and around the retail lots and residential areas west of Coal Creek Golf Course. There will be a shuttle bus that will drop spectators off at the course and return them to the designated spots. The shuttle will run continuously between 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. (Please see the PDF map for more information.)

The men will start the day with their 8-kilometer race at 10:40 a.m. and the women will run 6k at 11:40 a.m. A short awards ceremony will follow the championships at 1 p.m. This is the first conference championship the cross country program has hosted since 2000. That year both teams won the team titles, while Buffs Kara Goucher and Jorge Torres took home the individual titles.

There's home field advantage and then there's XC home field advantage in Boulder...yikes, I'd imagine recruiting is a piece of cake for XC here...

Recruiting is not a piece of cake. Very few scholarships and crappy facilities are major hurdles.

Yep. CU doesn't give full rides for XC so what Wetmore does is even more amazing - basically these kids are just on discounted tuition.

Guessing they are paying a lot. Believe the XC/Track teams are allocated 12 scholarships per gender.

I've gone over this numerous times before. This isn't how it works in reality. Partial Achilles are often split over xc, indoor, & outdoor track.

Partial scholarships are the norm in running, but tuition largely gets covered for most of the athletes.

That being said, Wetmore does a great job using scholarships for distance runners, but our track team suffers.

Hopefully the weather's nice on Saturday and both our XC teams have great showings.

This is an utterly stunning performance by the men's team. All 5 scorers in the top 9. The Buffs totally owned the race.

Jeez.
CU 28
Oregon 54
Stanford 78

that is a beatdown.

Woman come in second with a solid showing. Arizona is the #1 team in the country, so no shame in finishing #2 to them - Congrats, CU Woman!

Best thing about Wetmore is he does it with Colorado kids first, then primarliy American kids from other states next. And he develops them using his own methods. Kids come in as very good, but rarely national class, HS runners and leave All Americans.

No Ethiopian or other 25 yr old European ringers for him, like the East Coast and Big 12 schools.

Nice 2nd place for the women. They're missing a superstar this year, but have quality depth.

The men's team is going to be favored to bring home a national championship.

Wetmore moved the course to Coal Creek GC so as to lessen home course advantage.

imagine the women might have won on the real home course in South Boulder.
