Just wanted to start a thread to summarize any notable results that come from the 4 or so track and field meets, all in Southern California, various Buffs are participating in this week:

1) Wednesday and Thursday- California Invitational at Asuza Pacific University- With day 1 results already in (see http://www.cubuffs.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=600&ATCLID=210025621 for the cubuffs report), some of the Buff decathletes and heptathletes are participating in this (multi-event only) meet . Great start in day one, especially for junior Abrianna Torres. Per the article -
"“Overall this was an incredibly good day for my group,” assistant coach Lindsey Malone said. “AB (Abrianna) has a 60-point PR over her Texas Relay’s first day score and she is already high on the (NCAA) list, so if we can continue this and add a little more tomorrow, this can be a highlight in this season for her.”"
Looks like live results are supposed to be available at http://www.apu.edu/athletics/live/trackandfield/ when today's action starts.
Meet info (including schedule) at http://www.apu.edu/athletics/tracka...SID=93286&SPID=11064&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=5800 .

2) Thursday (starts this evening) through Saturday- Mt. Sac Relays, at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California- This is I assume the meet that most of the top (non multi-event) Buffs will be competing in, as this is one of the most prestigious invitational meets collegiate track and field athletes participate in each year.

3) Friday- Bryan Clay Invitational at Asuza Pacific University- After hosting the multi-event California Invitational, Asuza Pacific hosts this one day meet which also has many Buffs participating.

4) Friday and Saturday- Beach Invitational at Cerritos College in Norwalk CA- Looks like many of the Buff sprinters and field athletes, some after also participating in the above meets, are participating in this meet, with most of it (all but the javelin, hammer and 10,000M) held on Saturday.

Looking at live results (don't know if they're official yet?- as noted above at http://www.apu.edu/athletics/live/trackandfield/), looks like Ms. Torres did "easily" (I'm sure with LOTS of HARD work) set her personal best with 5,545 points in the heptathlon with great performances over the last two days (her previous high was 5,357), and came in 4th in the meet (behind I believe only one collegian).

Per http://www.cubuffs.com/pdf9/2670194.pdf?DB_OEM_ID=600 , also looks like this is the 5th highest point total in CU history, and makes her the 3rd highest scoring female heptathlete in CU history.

Congrats to Ms. Torres!

Great jobs by 2 freshmen winning their races- looks like CU's nickname of "Steeplechase U." should be alive and well in future years! Invitational steeple races are this evening, with Buffs in both the men's (Sr. Blake Theroux) and women's (Soph. Melanie Nun) races.
