College Hotline - My Pac-12 football preseason media ballot (picks for the division races)

Here’s my preseason media ballot, submitted to the conference last week. The official Pac-12 preseason poll will be released next Thursday, the first day of the July 14-15 media event in Hollywood.

The picks below are based on my January projections, with one change.

In a nutshell: The North will be something to behold, with four teams capable of winning what should be one of the strongest divisions in the country.

(Pause for disdainful reactions from the Big Ten East and SEC West.)

I picked UW back in January … was one of the first, if not the first, to do so … and am sticking with the Huskies, for now.

The more trendy they become, the more wary I become.

The South looks like a two-team race as the Los Angeles schools duel for the title. Utah and Arizona are the top dark horses.

In January, the lean was USC to win the South, but I’ve shifted to UCLA in part because of the injury to Kenny Bigelow, which weakened the Trojans at what was already their weakest unit.

Please note: I’ll update the division picks as part of the Hotline’s Pac-12 season preview package, scheduled for the final weeks of August.

NORTH
1. Washington
2. Stanford
3. Oregon
4. Washington State
5. Cal
6. Oregon State

SOUTH
1. UCLA
2. USC
3. Utah
4. Arizona
5. Arizona State
6. Colorado

Championship game
Washington over UCLA
