Colorado coach Jon Embree got a late start with his 2011 recruiting class. That's not going to happen for the 2012 class.
The Buffaloes received their third commitment on Thursday*from defensive tackle Tyler Henington of Mullen HS (Denver, Colo.).
The 6-foot-5, 265-pound prospect had 104 tackles and 11 sacks for the state champion Mustangs as a junior. His father, Troy, was a defensive tackle for Texas Tech.
It's notable that two of the Buffaloes' three pledges are from in-state. Embree probably wants to wrap up the local guys whose heart is with Colorado quickly, then focus outside the state, particularly in Southern California.
We did a look at early commitments in the Pac-12 on Wednesday, and the Buffaloes are second only to USC (five) in early commitments.
