Corn

FolsCUm only has to hold 15-20k fans a game so you can seat them all on the sidelines. Lincoln or Socialist Republic of Boulder..Hmmmm I'll take Lincoln. Lay off the bong water, Dude.

**** yeah!!!

Socialist republic of Boulder:lol: Awesome.

Lay off the grass hippies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Duke owns allbuff dorks.

Never thought I'd see the day - a Nowledge U. fan defending a 3- or 4-loss season.

My my my!
Likely 9-3 in the second year of a new coach? Hey, I bet you Buffs would love to be defending such a record - as opposed to the reverse - 3-9? ;) Lets see, when is the last time Nebraska had a 3-9 record? Not in the darkest depths of our Callahan debacle did we sink to that.

You are a tool. For the record it's the Peoples Republic of Boulder. Crawl back into your mom's basement and go back to sleep with your sister er wife.

i know you want to use numbers fo ryour argument but it has no merit. You automatically set your team up for 3 wins each year by your non-conference schedule.

CU does not for TV money.

Yes, we lost to Toledo this year and Montana State a few years ago which a Big 12 program should NEVER lose to those......

But dont give me that numbers argument. It is BS and you know it.

HornBuff, its interesting that you think it will be extremely difficult for Nebraska to return to past successes. If you're talking about our 4 year run with 3 NC's in 94 -97, then you may be correct. But Bo took the team to an 8-4 record last year, 9-4 with the bowl win. This year we'll be a minimum of 8-4, hopefully 9-3 regular season, playing in the CCG and a bowl game after. For most of Osborne's tenure, a 9 win regular season was about average, and Pelini has the team almost there in his second year. You're probably right, the odds of putting together a run of 3 NC's in 4 years is unlikely. But regularly winning 9-10 games per season again sure isn't out of reach at all, as Bo has shown rather quickly.

I’m talking about consistently starting and finishing seasons in the top-10. I’m talking about only losing one or two games per year. (It’s hard to compare total wins in a season because you play more games now than in the days if the Big 8.) I’m talking about beating your rival 9 times in a row. I’m talking about BCS/high profile bowl games. I’m talking about loads of conference championships.

This was all a part of your past but I don’t see it in your future.

The “old” Nebraska might have had a good argument against CU being a “worthy” rival. My point is, those days are gone. NU is just “in the mix” like nearly everyone else, including CU.

It’s an interesting rivalry, CU v NU.

NU fans seem to be torn between embracing the rivalry and feeling that CU is not worthy of rival status.

Historically, if you look at the series it’s frankly not much of a rivalry in terms of on the field results. Good grief, NU won 18 in a row between ’68 and ’85 and then another nine in a row between ’92 and ’00. The overall record is 18-47-2. That’s pretty lopsided.

However…

In this decade it’s CU 4 and NU 5 (4 & 4 over the last 8). More importantly, NU has fallen from their perch at the top of the college football world and frankly I’m not seeing a return to the top anytime soon. You see other former powers struggling, like a FSU or Miami, but those schools will always have potential given their proximity to loads of blue-chip recruits. With those schools you get the feeling that it’s only a matter of time. On the other hand, I think it will be extremely difficult for NU to replicate what they once had. I think the playing field has been leveled so embrace the hate Huskers. This is your new reality.

Go Buffs!
I agree with your assessment. Maybe, becasue it's so hard to get blue chippers to the midwest is why we are so passionate about having a winning program. We may not get all the way back to the glory years. But, explain why CU, with it's so called beautiful setting, it's proclaimed awesome institution and everyone is trying to get there, is dominated by The Big Red for so many years? Although it's became more competitive in the last 10 years we are starting to dominate you again. We will continue the domination Friday. Lock it down.

Durrrrrrrrrrrr.......once was stupid enough.

Mom's basement? You don't pull trim like me living in a basement.

I'm guessing, by that comment, you're referencing the miracle field goal mighty Nowledge U. needed to win last year?
No, after Friday we hold a 4-1 record last 5 years and I'm saying it's STARTING the domination. Horn put the 18-47 stat up, which is a .723 winning percentage, 4-1 is .800. Just saying.

Well Duke, for the record I'm a Horn grad living in CO. I happen to like the Buffs too.

Let's talk about domination and lock downs. After 12/5/09 we'll be 8-1 against the corn in our last 9. Lock it down brother!

Horn, Buffs are big girls they can stand on their own record.

Dude I just picked a booger that WOULD NOT turn hard no matter how many times I rolled it in my fingers. I think the world is ending.

Are you serious? Do you follow college football?

Yes I do. Apparently you don't. You haven't exactly dominated your own division, much less "college football". You guys are pretty much just another team as well..play pretty well most times, under achieve other times.

We are have the most wins of any program in football in the past decade. We have the second most in all time. Four national championships and we are undefeated now. You can argue which team is the best , but no argument that we are not in the very top group.

Just as there is no argument that Nebraska is not in the very top group. Lets look at modern records. Over the last 50 years, the top winning percentages are as follows:

Nebraska: .775
Ohio State: .757
Penn State: .743
Texas: .740
Alabama: .733
Oklahoma: .729
Michigan: .727
USC: .722

No one else above .700. As I told a colleague and huge 'Horns fan after Texas won the NC a few years ago, "Congratulations, glad you guys won it, was absolutely rooting for you over USC. My advice - savor and enjoy the accomplishment to the max. It doesn't come along all that often. After all, its not like you're Nebraska or something - where we've had FIVE National Championships since the last time Texas won one." :wink2:

No doubt that NU has a great history. But that's all in the past.
LOL, sounds like uninformed wishful thinking to me! And as for "in the past", I really got a good laugh about that, after seeing you beat your chest about Texas and their "2nd most victories of all time" which digs WAY into the past, or their "4 National Championships", 3 of which I think pre-date the age of television.

Best part of statistics is how easy they are to manipulate to make your point. You went back 50 years. In a few more years you can make the same post, only you will have to go back 60 years. What has Corn in the last 15 years.

You remind me of an Alabama friend of mine from the late 80's when Bama just sucked. He always threw out Bear, and all there championships, problem was they were all won before the guy was born.
