This is THE GAME of the non-conference schedule. TopDrawerSoccer has the Buffs just outside the Top 25 in today's poll (#27) and DU at #15. The NCAA will publish its new poll on Tuesday. We were receiving votes last week and would be ranked with a win against DU (#20 on 9/3).

Email blast from Coach Danny Sanchez:

Dear Buffs Fans,

All you need to know is that we host #15 ranked Denver on Sunday at 1 p.m. on Prentup Field. We expect a near record crowd for this battle of undefeated teams! Both teams are 6-0 and have basically faced the same opponents. Many of the players are former teammates from club and high school soccer. Denver has won the past three matches in the series and this is the last chance for our four senior starters to get a win over DU. We promise nice cool weather and an electric atmosphere. CU there!

Last weekend we did pick up two more wins at the Denver Invitational over Alabama and UT-Martin. Friday the Buffs set a school record with 39 shots (20 on goal), but it wasn’t until the 7th minute of overtime that we finally broke through. Madi Krauser played a great ball and Brie Hooks beat the ‘Bama keeper from close range for the winner.

Well Sunday we finally allowed a goal after 470 minutes of shutout soccer to start the season! However, we bounced back with three goals from Anne Stuller and Olivia Pappalardo’s first career tally for the 4-1 win. Stuller’s hat-trick was just the 4th in CU history. In addition, Madi Krauser’s four assists tied a single game school record! All 22 players that dressed saw game action.

We need everyone out in full voice this Sunday! We hope to see you then. GO BUFFS!

Danny Sanchez
