BOULDER- The University of Colorado women’s soccer team opened its season with a 2-0 victory over rival Colorado State on Friday at Prentup Field in the first match of the Colorado Cup.

After a back-and-forth first half where neither team scored, Colorado came out on the attack and broke the 0-0 tie midway through the second frame. CU sophomore Mikaela Kraus found sophomore Brie Hooks darting down the field as she entered Colorado State’s goal box. Hooks made a move around two players and took a shot. Her shot hit the top cross bar and bounced in during the 73[SUP]rd[/SUP] minute of play.
