INDIANAPOLIS – At the beginning of their record-breaking season, several University of Colorado soccer student-athletes said the thing they were most looking forward to in the 2013 campaign was making the NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship. Well look no further; the Buffaloes are one of 64 teams that will compete for the College Cup title, the Division I Women’s Soccer Committee announced Monday.
“Obviously we’re very excited – me and my staff – to have the opportunity to lead the Buffaloes back to the tournament,” second-year CU head coach Danny Sanchez said. “I’m especially proud of the team, but really our four four-year seniors (Anne Stuller, Annie Brunner, Hayley Hughes and Lizzy Herzl), who have gone through a lot in their time at Colorado. To have the opportunity to make the tournament their senior year, is just a testament to the work and commitment they’ve shown since we’ve been brought on staff.”
Colorado will face Denver in the first round of competition on Saturday, Nov. 16. Time is still to be determined. Denver (17-1-1 overall) is one of 16 seeded teams, earning a No. 4 seed and coming in at No. 14 in the most recent NSCAA/Continental Tire Women’s National Poll.
