BOULDER - University of Colorado women’s lacrosse player Sarah Brown was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. She earned the award after several key performances in CU’s 11-10 win at the University of Denver on Friday.

Brown, a sophomore from Boulder, finished the game with three caused turnovers, three draw controls and two ground balls. She also assisted on a goal early in the first half. Her most important moment in the game came when she caused a turnover with 29 seconds left, sealing the one-goal victory as the Buffaloes were able to maintain possession for the remainder of the game.

The midfielder was making her first career start on Friday after appearing in just two games as a reserve in 2015.

Colorado (1-0, 1-0 MPSF), playing in the third year of its lacrosse program, will play at Fresno State at 12 p.m. PT on Sunday.

Congrats to the local player for the honor!

Ms. Brown obviously put in a lot of good work during the off-season to get the start and then earn this award after getting such limited playing time last year as a freshman!
