BOULDER – Following their impressive showing at the NCAA Championships this past weekend, the Buffs are diving into the outdoor track and field season by hosting the Jerry Quiller Classic at Potts Field this weekend, March 17-18.
Last year, inclement weather forced the meet to be pushed and then finally canceled; however, this year the Buffs are looking at beautiful weather for their first outdoor meet of the season with temperatures in the high 70s.
Friday's events will still start at 3 p.m. with the men's hammer throw, followed by the javelin and will end at 4:30 p.m. Events will resume Saturday morning beginning at 11 a.m. with the men's shotput on the field and men's 3,000-meter steeplechase on the track. The event schedule is tentative and may be adjusted.
The University of Colorado will compete against several Front Range schools. Air Force, Colorado State, UC-Colorado Springs, Metro State and Wyoming will all send competitors with CU, but there will be several other athletes competing unattached or as a member of a club.
Spectators will be charged a $5 admission fee upon entry and meet results will be posted at www.cubuffs.com, www.TFRRS.com, and www.DirectAthletics.com.
The Jerry Quiller Classic is the first of two meets CU will host this spring. The Buffs will also host the CU Invitational, April 7-8. Both meets take place at Potts Field on 30th and Colorado.
