BOULDER – On Wednesday, April 26, Colorado's women's tennis team will head to Ojai, Calif., to compete in the Pac-12 Championships to decide who is the best team in the conference.

This season the championships will be for the first time in the tournaments' history, a team competition format instead of the traditional individual competition. The matches will be played in the traditional format with doubles starting the day, before heading into the singles competitions.

The Buffs enter the tournament seeded as the No. 10 team and on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. MT, will face the No. 30 Washington Huskies, seeded No. 7, in the first round of the tournament.

CU enters the tournament with a 9-12 (1-9 Pac-12) record and they finished tenth in the conference. Washington finished 16-8 (5-5 Pac-12) and they gained themselves a seventh-place finish in the conference.

The Buffs lost to Washington. (Tough tie breaker loss in match #3 to lose the doubles point. Who knows what might have been ....)

Thanks and best wishes to lone senior Nuria Ormeño Ruiz, who I believe in an interview said she's going back to Spain (assume after this semester?), and hope the rest of the team gets/ stays healthy and gets some great training in leading to successful fall 2017/ spring 18 season(s).
