cubuffs CUBuffs.com: Look Ahead: Irwin Leads Experienced Tight End Crew

Underrated and underutilized position on this offense. Irwin is a reliable receiver who should be used more often, Frazier is a versatile weapon who was used very effectively in 2014 but not so much last season, and Keeney is maybe the biggest matchup advantage the Buffs have in the passing game but is rarely looked to.

If the run game improves with the backs we have Frazier and Irwin can really take their game to the next level.

Irwin is never going to scare anyone with his receiving skills but he proved last year that he can be effective.

He is absolutely a plus blocker at TE and created some quality holes last year.

If they can establish him enough as a receiver that defenses have to respect that part of his game it will make his blocking that much more effective. A few big first down receptions will force the OLB and or the SS to play an extra step back on him.
