I'm also confident that the defense will be better in 2018.

A good part of my confidence comes from the fact that I can't imagine it being worse.
 
Straight from the HC's mouth: "Players make plays, players win games."

Next year could be good in all 3 phases as long as MM plays the players who actually make plays instead of guys who get playing time solely for being upperclassmen. In other words, if MM doesn't sabotage himself again.

The theme for 2017 that fits better than anything is that players didn't make plays. The big catch or sack or interception or stop at a key moment to swing momentum for the Buffs did not happen this year. 2016's team had that clutch gene in spades. It was absent in 2017.
