Derrion Rakestraw is the most highly recruited wide receiver to come out of Cherokee County — which says a lot for a player on a team that, until recently, didn’t put the ball in the air.

The Sequoyah senior started his carrier as a running back, but as he grew — he’s now 6-foot-2, 175 pounds — coaches converted Rakestraw into a receiver in middle school. He also plays defensive back.
