Well it's hard to believe, but another CU football season is already halfway over. The time always seems to drag in the offseason, and when football season starts, it seems to just fly by. NOT FAIR!
Anyway, lets take a look at the buffs halfway through the season. And you can vite on how the buffs will do the second half of the season. The second half at least looks a little better as far as the schedule goes, but no game is a gimmie. They will all be tough to win. Don't like excuses, but injuries to key players, particularly on the O-line have hurt this team big time, it would be idiotic to say otherwise.
CSU W 38-17. The buffs finally got out and for the most part took care of in-state rival CSU like they should. The D did a good job at shutting down CSU as CSU's only points other than a kickoff return TD were gifts from CU off turnovers. CU appeared bigger, faster and more physical than CSU and the better team won this game.
E. Washington W 31-24. In a game that was supposed to be a "warm up" for the buffs meaty part of the schedule, the eagles were in no mood to fool around. They came to play the buffs and almost escaped Folsom with a W. The Buffs trailed for most of the game and had to have the defense win it for them.
West Virginia W 17-14 OT. WVU was supposed to be much better than they have been this year, but they are still a talented team. The buffs came out firing from the start and took a 14-0 lead, but then shutdown the rest of the game. They let Pat White tie it up and had to win in OT to win.
@ Florida St L 21-39. The buffs looked like they were gonna make it a game, but kept shooting themselves in the foot. CU had chances including two dropped for sure TD's where WR's were wide open. FSU also blew it open in 2 minutes before the half, when it would have been a very close game at the break.
Texas L 14-38. Texas dominated the buffs in everyway. It wasn't a game and Texas came close to ending CU's scoring streak. Texas is one of the best in the land. CU again missed some opportunities, but it wouldn't have mattered in this game. UT owned the buffs.
@ Kansas L 14-30. Buffs hit first, KU got a safety on a questionable thing to do by Cody. Went back and forth for 3 qtrs and was a pretty even game. Defense appeared to wear out in the 4th and KU's trio of Reesing, Sharp and the "gimp" Meier beat the buffs.
so we are 3-3 halfway through. We have to win half our remaining games to become bowl eligible. Can we do it?
Remaining schedule
KSU. Could go either way. Buffs must score some points
@ Mizzou. No game is a gimme either way W or L, but Mizzou will be extrememly hard.
@ A&M. Could go either way, but A&M is baaaad.
Iowa St. Home team has won last 5, does that trend continue?
Okie St. See Mizzou
@ NU. If you are a true buff or husker, you know that records don't mean **** in this game. Actually it could be like last year. Winner goes bowling, loser stays home.
