BOULDER — The world’s best track and field athletes are heading to Beijing to compete at the IAAF World Track and Field Championships, August 22-30, and that includes a pair of former Buffs and Olympians, Emma Coburn and Jenny Simpson.

Coburn (3,000-meter steeplechase) and Simpson (1,500-meters) won their respective events at the USA Track and Field Championships last June and are positioned to do well on the world stage. Simpson currently ranks fourth in the world, while Coburn is fifth.

Full Schedule (And also possibly Live Results once events are run)- http://www.iaaf.org/competitions/ia...iaaf-world-championships-4875/timetable/byday

Full Television/ streaming schedule-http://www.letsrun.com/news/2015/07...ide-35-hours-of-live-coverage-48-hours-total/

(Too bad personally for me that the Championships are largely on Universal Sports, as Comcast doesn’t carry the channel even though they OWN a part of it. The link above does provide options to get Universal Sports, as well as options and information for those outside the U.S..)

Note- I did also find a Youtube channel here- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCK54EO7U_eGh-Ch1db4OaZg , It will be interesting to see what events that channel shows, whether it might be blacked out in the U.S. (which I suspect), etc.. Edit- as I was afraid of, the Youtube channel is blacked out in America.

Edit- Although not video, looks like there is audio/ radio available near the upper right of the http://www.iaaf.org/competitions/iaaf-world-championships/15th-iaaf-world-championships-4875/live .page.

Good luck to a couple of all-time great Buffs!

A few resources I've found for the championships:

Jenny Simpson safely through in what looked to me like a comfortable effort and a 5th place finish to advance to the next round.

Another solid workmanlike race for Jenny Simpson gets her into Tuesday's final. She finishes in 5th place in the 2nd heat (top 5 of each heat auto qualified) in what I assume is a comfortable time for her (~4:08) that should leave her with a lot left for the final.

Emma Coburn just ran in the 1st round of HER specialty, the 3000 meter steeplechase, and makes it into Wednesday's finals with a solid controlled 3rd place finish in Heat 3. (Top 3 finishers in each heat auto-qualify for the finals, along with the next 6 fastest runners.)

Congrats to Ms. Coburn, and best wishes to both former Buffs in their finals!

For anyone up who is up, has a few minutes and is not already watching, Jenny Simpson is running in the 1500M final in ~10 minutes (Universal Sports).

Jenny Simpson is not even competitive, and ends up near the back of the field MANY seconds behind in the 1500M final that was, as many championships are, a very slow tactical race. (My guess would be she wasn't 100%?)

Edit- Announcers saying she lost a shoe sometime during the race. You work and work and work, and in the race you've highlighted all year, if not for 2 years, something like that happens. Sports, you're a cruel cruel thing sometimes.

Last race of the championships for the (former) Buffs in around 30 minutes (7:00 AM MT, again, on Universal Sports).
