Former Michigan WR Toney Clemons transferring to CU

Re: Michigan WR Toney Clemons

Going to really screw their APR scores!

Re: Michigan WR Toney Clemons

I do believe I heard that he was going to announce his decision at the end of May.

Re: Michigan WR Toney Clemons

Clemons interviewed w/Ringo within the last 24 hrs-
Buffs are ahead on Cincy and he's not visiting UConn.
Announcing his choice between May 20th-25th and will be
on that school's campus a week later.

This is all great news
If he's not a Buff I'd be shocked.

Re: Michigan WR Toney Clemons

Yeah, I would say it is looking pretty good for us.

Re: Michigan WR Toney Clemons

Can someone tell me when it's okay for us to be gushingly optimistic and not just your average sunshine pumper?

Because if we have Clemmons and the team that plays in my mind in 2010 ... I'm giddy with anticipation. I mean, I hate to even say how excited I am about how that team is shaping up.

Yeah, but according to some, if we don't go to a bowl game this coming year, Hawk won't be around to coach it. I don't buy that myself...

Look at the schedule. If we don't go to a bowl game with this schedule, we have huge problems. Seriously. The three toughest B12N teams all have to come to Boulder. If they can't find 7 wins in that schedule, there should be changes made.

Not that I think changes will be made unless we're really bad, but I tend to agree that changes should be made if we cannot make a bowl game. At some point winning matters and we have our most favorable schedule in years. If not this year, when?

Re: Michigan WR Toney Clemons

Maybe I'm reading this wrong but since when did Kyle recruit for the Buffs?

Or are you suggesting a story has been/soon will be written?

Ringo has a summary article on premium scout.
http://colorado.scout.com/2/864529.html

Bottom line, no decision announced (so it's not over until it's over...), but everything between the lines sounds very black and gold. It's down to Cinci and Colorado, but still sounds positive for us.

One thing he talks about is opportunity to play, and we can just about guarantee that will happen. No doubt. He likes that he knows "who will be there" in Colorado, not as sure about Cinci. And that quote isn't clear if talking about coaches or players or both, but no matter.

It's still up in the air, but not the kind of article where you read between the lines and your heart sinks. More the kind where you hold your breath a little and think "he really likes Colorado, he gets it, he wants to be here."

Not that I'm projecting or anything... :smile2:

Straight out, I'm going to say wrong. He's not leaving this year.

And also say I don't see HOW we couldn't go bowling this year.
Hawk did recruit some fine talent, he'll get a chance to show what he can do with it.

Re: Michigan WR Toney Clemons

Anybody who thinks Hawk is going to get fired after this year is a moron. We aren't paying off his contract when the AD still owes several million dollars to the University, and Bohn knows that if he fires Hawk now he won't get a better coach for the salary Hawk makes.

It's a moot point, though. We are going bowling this year, unless we get an even worse injury plague. Not that 9 or 10 wins will satisfy some of the people on this board, but still.

And for the "the boosters will have Hawk fired" crowd, keep this in mind: the boosters couldn't even get Chuck Fairbanks fired. He left for a big money job in the USFL all on his own. That should tell you something right there. Hawk isn't going anywhere.

I always think people who agree with me are smart.

Couldn't agree more.

Re: Michigan WR Toney Clemons

I just believe that he will get a 5th year. I agree that we ought to be bowling this year, and it would take another ridiculous set of circumstance to keep that from happening. But unless those can be traced directly to coaching stupidity, I think he stays.

BTW, why hasn't anyone congratulated me for completely veering off topic? :smile2:

:drink2: touche'... but it's not off topic, IMO.
Toney Clemons is coming, bet your britches, and the buffs are gathering into greatness, like a prairie full of bison with a single thought, pounding in one direction, destroying all in their path. Hawkins will be part of the equation and when his enthusiasm catches on with the players, and their talent emerges, so strong and powerful it emits steam, they build off each others' strengths and think and act not as individuals, but as a single-minded team with intuition and confidence ...

... where the heck was I? Yeah, it's gonna be GOOD.
