Those honored on the first team were sophomore DT Will Pericak, junior DL Tony Poremba, junior DB Travis Sandersfeld and senior LT Nate Solder. Preview – Kansas State " CU At the Game - A CU Football blog by Stuart Whitehair

Colorado played a complete game against Iowa State. Can the Buffs make it two in a row? ... Here are this week’s "T.I.P.S." for the game:T – Talent - Last weekend, both quarterbacks played in the 38-28 loss to Missouri. Coffman went 11-for-19 for 170 yards, while Klein went four-of-six for 65 yards…hardly intimidating passing numbers. This is not just a recent trend, as overall Kansas State is ranked 100th in the nation in passing in 2010...

...On defense, Kansas State has been decent against the pass, but horrible against the run. Horrible against the run. Kansas State is 119th in the nation in rush defense. Only 1-9 New Mexico has fared worse than the Wildcats in stopping the run...

...Kansas State, as mentioned, plays North Texas next week. The Wildcats have the dubious distinction of finishing their season against two teams who have already fired their head coaches [Colorado and North Texas].

Brooks: Buffs See Red Again, But K-State Comes First - CUBuffs.com

"We had a list of goals starting the season, but Coach Cabral went in and stripped those down," Brown said. "He replaced them with Iowa State, Kansas State and Nebraska . . . Nebraska's back in red letters now; when you see it, you notice it. Everybody is prepared for these next two games. Everybody is ready to give it their all."Added Smith: "Nobody in my class has seen (Nebraska) in red, they don't know what that's about. He comes in here, he puts an emphasis on it. He's an old-school guy. It obviously means a lot to him and he wants it to mean a lot to us. It's been emphasized, but not like that - no red, for real, in his plan, that type of stuff."

"Coach Cabral has definitely brought a refreshing vibe to the team and he's reaffirmed the fact that this season's not over, that we've definitely got plenty to play for," senior tight end Luke Walters said. "We're looking for the opportunity to win the next two games and have a postseason. I think everyone on this team thinks that's a definite possibility. We win this week and it's going to be a crazy five or six days heading up to Nebraska. It would definitely create a buzz around here. But first things first; we're definitely not looking past (K-State)."

2010 Colorado Football: Game 11 - Kansas State - CUBuffs.com

STAT OF THE WEEK: Though nine sacks for 53 yards certainly further diminished Iowa State's rushing total last Saturday (26-for-minus 6, 17-for-47 not including sacks), it nevertheless stands as the seventh lowest total by an opponent in CU history; earlier this season, Hawai'i netted just seven total yards. In CU's four wins, the Buffs have allowed 238 rushing yards, or 59.5 per, while in the six losses, the opponent has averaged 179.8 yards per. The nine sacks (including one for zero yards that CU recognizes that the NCAA does not) tied for the third most in school annals: the Buffs had 14 at Missouri in 2000 and 13 at Iowa State in 1969. The pass rush grew more ferocious as the game progressed, as CU had four sacks in the fourth quarter (and had four on third down, helping to limit ISU to just 13 total yards on 14 overall plays). The Buffs count sacks for zero yards as it has always done so, following the NFL stat guidelines for sacks before the NCAA created any of its own.

-Suspended Or Not, The Cam Newton Investigation Is Everything That's Wrong With The NCAA - SBNation.com
Cam Newton may well end up being suspended after the investigation into alleged violations is said and done. But that doesn't make the witch hunt surrounding him right. For two weeks now, the media has descended on Auburn, Starkville, Gainesville, and everywhere in between, all looking for the same thing: Proof that Cam Newton did something wrong. But if he did take money, is that really "wrong"?

CU women look to apply lessons learned - Buffzone

The new Colorado women`s basketball coaching staff could do all of the teaching and drilling it wanted during the preseason. Despite the 70-69 loss to Denver on Tuesday that included some crucial breakdowns in the closing minutes, the Buffs made possibly their biggest leaps of the season so far. They went from a team that struggled to break DU`s three-quarter court press, turned the ball over 14 times and gave up nine offensive rebounds in the first half to one that controlled the tempo, took care of the ball and won the rebounding battle in the second half. "They took it to us the first half and they were the aggressors," sophomore wing Meagan Malcolm-Peck said. "I think the second half we realized we were back on our heels and wanted to be the dominant team.

CU's Dufault working to fill Harris-Tunks' shoes - Buffzone

"We`re pretty close," Dufault said. "It was a really hard practice the day after Shane went down, just thinking how bad I wanted him to be out there." Other than Wooden Award candidates Cory Higgins and Alec Burks, there wasn`t a player Colorado`s new coaching staff was counting on more this season than Harris-Tunks. The 6-11 center had added 25 pounds of muscle and was poised for a breakout season in the paint until tearing an ACL during practice last month. Now Dufault -- a 6-foot-9, 225-pound forward -- must return to his old role of picking fights under the basket with the other team`s bouncer-sized post players.

CU Buffs QB Cody Hawkins goes all-in in life - Boulder Daily Camera

Regardless of how the final two regular season games of his career end, what kind of statistics he produces, what records he claims or falls short of and what people say or believe about him, Cody Hawkins will leave the Colorado football program with a win. Through all of his challenges and successes these past five years, he stayed true to himself. That is what the men who have walked beside him throughout his career, say when asked to talk about the Buffs` senior starting quarterback, who will play his final home game at Folsom Field on Saturday afternoon against Kansas State. And it is apparent in talking to him......Hawkins said he plans to chase the opportunity to play and also begin working as a coach overseas in Europe when he leaves CU in the spring. It`s no secret he hopes to follow in his father`s footsteps and become a coach in the future. His goal in going to Europe is to "get everything out of the tank as far as an athlete goes and also get my feet wet in the coaching deal."

"Whatever that kid does, I guarantee you, he will be the CEO of a company, the president of a company, he'll have five kids and they will all be an extremely, unbelievable family," offensive coordinator Eric Kiesau said. "I mean that, just because everything that kid has been through at 21 years old, I guarantee you there are people who are 50 who have never been through what he's been through. It will make him a better person. Whatever he does, he will be successful, guaranteed."

Go Buffs!
