FWIW the TAMU boards have lit up with more realignment threads the last couple of day

Obviously, you haven't listened to chip brown enough. I actually had an old college friend FB me congratulations because "you were lucky" and "Baylor was gonna be in". He failed out of CU for being a coke addict. Nice guy though. I, being the kind soul that I am, laughed at him and told him there was never a snowballs chance in hell/texas of Baylor's Waco meth addicted ass getting into the pac 12. (direct quote). His only response: (I kid you ****ing not) - "Waco is just as fun a town as Boulder". I forget what I said next, but we haven't spoken since...

He might be right. I heard at the last big party in Waco they burned the house down.

Baylor has zero chance of getting into the PAC. Outside of Colorado, there will be an additional 11 votes against them, the other institutions don't want anything to do with a religious school either.

Clearly you missed my intent. I realize that Baylor doesn't have a real chance, I just wanted to create a fantasy in which Baylor's fans were heartbroken by the rejection. Don't take that from me.

one look at the screaming crap-pile that is baylorfans.com would scare Larry Scott away from anything remotely close to BU in an expanded Pac. pop ups, banner ads, content, the constant scrolling you have to do to even read the content....it all sucks.

If you ran that site, wouldn't you hide the content as well?

seriously. that board is like someone smelling their own farts under the blankets. they have this persecuted, we're the private school in a super conference elitists of the conference thing they are working way too hard to convince themselves is real. Baylor ain't Duke, Vandy, NWestern, or Stanford.....but, they want to believe it like the fat gal who thinks the thong makes it work all of a sudden.

They think there is a chance the SEC could want them :rofl:eek:r if Texas were to go indy that maybe the Pac-12 would still take Baylor and 3 other Big12(-2) rejects. :rofl:Solid entertainment to do a quick drop in on the boards of our old conference, they're all absolutely miserable and it's ****ing hilarious. Can't wait til the next domino falls in coming years and Baylor ends up where they belong - they'd be a great replacement for TCU in the MWC and fit in well with conference partners like CSU - common traits include: perennially a losing program, 20k attendance at games (on a good day), student body full of douchebags, etc. Of course, the MWC would be far more likely to take a Texas Tech or Mizzou over Baylor, so maybe it would be the Sun-Belt for Baylor...probably a better fit for them geographically, anyways, and they'd be able to compete for once.

One of my friends was really getting into it with someone on facebook. Apparently his buddy is a KU fan and kept mocking CU for leaving the Big XII. He was convinced that the next Big XII TV contract was going to make the Pac-12's look like chump change.

Denial ain't just a river in Egypt.

He may be right, if your name is Texas or Oklahoma. The next Big XII contract should be a major step up in total dollars, that doesn't mean that KU is going to see a big share of it.

The fundamental problem with the Big XII and the reason I am glad we are out is the uneven distribution of power and revenues. KU is just happy to be in an AQ conference right now.

A&M's board of regents meeting starts on Thursday, and one of the items on the agenda is the "Big 12 conference". However, in the meeting agenda book, which details every little thing they are going over, it doesn't list any details about the conference - the Big 12 thing only exists on the schedule.

A guy at work today was telling me how the Longhorn network has agreed to televise 18 high school football games this year and they are all games for players that Texas is recruiting, including a game in Arizona because of the Brewer kid at QB that has committed to them.

This was my biggest fear. ****.

This particular issue is right now at the heart of the Big 12 conversations - especially in Texas. The rest of the Big 12 is following this very closely. Texas is trying to say that they have no role in it, that ESPN is who is picking which games will be televised, because ESPN is producing the LHN - but you can bet that A&M (and OU) are following this very closely to see if the LHN is allowed to broadcast high school games.

So the word is out that the regents are meeting about the Longhorn Network. Word has it they are flying in expert Peter North to discuss starting an animal porn network of their own.

Doesn't this sound like offering illegal benefits to recruits? I don't see how this meets NCAA rules, not there is a specific rule for it. You could maybe excuse HS games in the normal footprint of the network, but does that include AZ?

At this point it does not break any existing rules.

Debatable based on your definition of a booster, sure "ESPN" is going to be deciding what HS games get broadcast, and the guy they brought in to run the network is highly qualified with sports broadcasting experience...but he is also a UT grad and member of several of their alumni/booster organizations.

This is not a good thing GIA. I know sometimes you wear you burnt orange colored glasses but the Longhorn Network is setting a bad precedent.

I'm not arguing for or against this. I'm just saying that I'm sure UT and ESPN have done their research and would not blatantly break any rules. However they may be walking the line or pushing college sports in a bad direction...

That seems to be a very common idea to embrace around here. My best friend is a horn, and she indicates clearly that Texas should try to push the limits. That because kids in a sandbox do the same, it is justified.

My response was twofold: first, most people grew up from childish antics, and are keeping an eye on what is going on while Texas plays in their sandbox. No one missed that Texas tried to strongarm both the Pac-10 and Big Ten last year, then wrangled the Big 12 (on the brink of death) into doing what they want. Instead of getting giddy on that, they should be mindful that everyone blames them for wrecking the SWC, and they are LOSING ground in future conference reallignment talks. second, Texas can ill afford to be independent. Remember how people bailed on Austin frequently last year? What if they continue to put a poor product on the field?

We cackle.

Supposedly the aTm Regents are meeting Thursday to discuss moving to the SEC.

Nothing official on this, just a bunch of chatter on other boards from people who way they're in the know.
