#21 LACROSSE Buffs (10-4 overall, 4-1 in the Pac 12) regular season is winding down, with only 2 games remaining, one on the road and one at home. 1st off is a BIG game that will determine who gets the #2 seed at the Pac 12 Tourney with the team in L.A. to face the /#22 ranked USC Trojans (10-4, 4-1) this Sunday afternoon. Then, the team is shooting for an all-time home attendance record as they host the Oregon Ducks (7-5, 1-4) in an evening game beginning at 6:00 PM MT next Friday (4/26) on their senior day at the soccer team's tome (Prentup) field.
(In addition to having to break USC's 5 game winning streak, the Buffs will also

Both games are slotted to be viewable on one or the other Pac 12 Network channel(s). (Further info and links for media options available near the bottom of this thread.)

Note - In the latest NCAA release for the RPI ratings (as of 4/18, https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/lacrosse-women/d1/ncaa-womens-lacrosse-rpi), CU is at #25, while USC is #23 and Oregon #71.
(As I mentioned in previous game threads, the lacrosse NCAA tournament is much smaller most other team sports, and there are only 14 at-large teams selected. Therefore, I'm GUESSING that if the Buffs want to have ANY chance to be one of those 13, they will need to win every remaining regular season game and get to the conference tournament final. This would mean they beat USC both this Sunday, and, likely, at the Pac 12 tourney***.. (Of course, the Pac 12 tourney will always give them a chance at earning the conference auto-bid if they win the whole thing.))
(***In addition to having to break a 5 game losing streak to the Trojans, the Buffs will have to beat the Trojans (probably TWICE) at the Coliseum, as the Trojans are also hosting the Pac 12 tourney this year.)

Go Buffs!!!

BOULDER — The No. 21 Colorado Buffaloes (10-4, 4-1 Pac-12) are set to face off against the No. 22 USC Trojans (10-4, 4-1 Pac-12) in Los Angeles this Sunday, April 21 at 1:00 p.m. MDT. The winner of this game will be at least the No. 2 seed or better in the upcoming Pac-12 tournament.

The Buffs will head into the coliseum on Sunday riding a three-game winning streak and winning six of their last eight games. USC is coming off their first conference loss of the season to Stanford, who currently leads the Pac-12 standings.

Colorado matched their season-high in goals, with 20, in back-to-back wins over Arizona State and Kent State this past weekend at home. Ashley Stokes claimed Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week honors after posting 18 points across two games.

Stokes tallied a career-high seven goals, the most by any Buff this season, along with four assists to finish with 11 points in the game against Kent State. It's the most points scored in a single game by a Buff since Darby Kiernan had a school record 12 points in 2018 against Jacksonville.

INSIDE THE SERIES
The Buffaloes have not found much success recently against the Trojans, dropping the last five games. CU last beat them during the 2021 season, they last won in LA in 2019.

We are going to miss the Stokes to Pisani connection.

With the location and time change, the game will now be viewable on a free live stream rather than on the Pac 12 Network. (Appreciate that they're able to show it at all with the changes!)

Wanted to note that live stats don't seem to be working, but from checking in on the live stream, the Buffs have scored the 1st goal early in the game.

The Buffs have this one pretty well in hand as they'll be taking a 16-6 lead into the 4th quarter. (It's been a running clock since the Buffs went up 10 with 8-9 minutes left in the 3rd.)

It's a HAPPY SENIOR DAY as the Buffs get the win 20-8. 3 of those seniors led the way offensively with hat tricks (Pisani with 7, Stokes 4 and Hritzuk 3).

Believe senior Day ceremonies are beginning soon on the stream.

Way to go Buffs!
Skoooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!

Buffs Dominate Senior Night Behind Pisani's Seven Goals

By: Tanner Kay, Athletic Communication Associate

BOULDER —
The no. 23 Colorado Buffaloes (11-5, 5-2 Pac-12) topped the Oregon Ducks (8-6, 2-5 Pac-12) behind Madeline Pisani's historic seven goal performance, which led to a 20-8 win on Senior Day. It was the last home and regular season game before the Buffs before heading to Southern California for the Pac-12 Tournament next week.

Colorado was set to play this game at Prentup Field, but due to weather conditions the game was forced to be played inside at the Indoor Practice Facility.

The Buffs were in a close 5-3 contest going into the second quarter, and were able to pull away after three consecutive scores from Pisani, putting them up five and never looking back.

"Always exciting on senior day," head coach Ann Elliott Whidden said. "This is an awesome senior class, and the fifth years we have so really excited to honor them obviously you know, not a hard adjustment but an adjustment going from thinking you're playing outside to inside and I thought the team handled that great you know, that can go one way or the other and they did a great job coming out with intensity and focus. This is a good Oregon team. They put pressure on us all over the field and I thought our team handled it really well. And then use it to our advantage, so just proud of the overall effort and proud we could honor the seniors with a win."

It was the senior — Pisani — who stole the show on Friday evening, posting a career-high seven goals in the game. It's just the second time this season that a CU player has scored seven or more goals in a game. Ashley Stokes did it two weeks ago at home against Kent State.

She ends the regular season with 56 goals, which leads the conference, and is the only Buff to score in every contest this season. Pisani scored four or more goals eight different times this season, by far the most on the team and in the Pac-12.

Another senior, Stokes, once again put on a stellar performance for the Buffs, scoring four goals in her final game in Boulder. It's the third time in the last five games she's had three or more scores. Stokes ends the regular season with 34 goals, breaking her previous career-high of 32 she set during the 2023 season.

The third CU senior to record a hat trick on the night was Eve Hritzuk. She had three scores and ends the regular season with 33 goals, the third most on the team.

Pisani, Stokes, and Eve Hritzuk were the three CU players (all seniors) to record multiple goals in the win and combine for 14 of the teams' 20 goals.

Camryn Stoner showed out on the defensive end of the field, tallying a career-high four caused turnovers. Stoner ends her last campaign as a Buff with 15 caused turnovers.

The sophomore Jess Peluso also posted four caused turnovers, bringing her season total up to 39. Peluso broke the single-season school record for caused turnovers last game against USC.

"I think for us just being a little more aggressive today but also controlled," coach Whidden stated on the team's offense. "I think we passed up some okay opportunities for better opportunities and that's something we were focused on from last week, just playing a little bit more disciplined on the offensive end. We won a lot of the draw controls which I think helped and gave us the ball which gives us an opportunity obviously score."
...

UP NEXT
With the conclusion of the regular season, the Buffs will begin postseason play this next week in Los Angeles, California. The Pac-12 Tournament will begin Wednesday, May 1 and end on Saturday, May 4. CU will be the no. 3 seed in the bracket.
