THE BUFFALOES: Colorado is 13-9 overall and tied with TCU and Cincinnati for 10th in the Big 12 Conference standings with a league record of 3-6. The Buffaloes snapped their season-long six-game skid with an 87-61 victory over TCU on Feb. 1.

With the win over the Horned Frogs, Colorado has matched its conference win total from 2024-25 in 11 fewer games (3-17). The Buffaloes also have one more regular season win than all of last year, Colorado would finish with 14 overall wins after a pair of wins in the Big 12 Championship (14-21).

FROM THE TCU GAME NOTEBOOK: TCU shot 33.3 percent from the field (21-63) matching Colorado's best field goal defensive effort of the season (.333, 23-69, vs. Washington). It was the best field goal defense mark against a conference opponent since the Buffaloes held Utah to 31.6 percent (18-57) in a 72-58 win in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Pac-12 Tournament. It's the best in a conference regular season game since holding Oregon to 26.9 percent (14-52) in a 68-41 win on Jan. 5, 2023. During the Tad Boyle era, Colorado is 16-1 against conference opponents who shoot 33.3 percent or less and has won the last six.

Colorado committed just eight turnovers, recording single digits for the 10th time this season.

Colorado's 24 assists matches a season high (24 vs. UC Davis) and is the most against a conference opponent since the Buffaloes had 25 in a 91-72 win over Stanford on March 2, 2017.

Colorado matched a season high with 11 3-point field goals. The Buffaloes' 35 overall field goals are their second most this season (36 at CSU) and their most against a conference opponent since making 38 in a 91-52 win over Utah on Jan. 12, 2020. Colorado shot 55.6 percent overall (35-63), its best mark against a conference opponent since shooting 57.1 percent (32-56) in an 86-63 win over Oregon State on Feb. 5, 2022.

Isaiah Johnson (16 points, 5 assists) now with 364 points on the season, jumped past Matt Bullard (356 in 1985-86) and Spencer Dinwiddie (360 in 2011-12) to eighth in scoring by a freshman in team history. Has now scored in double figures in 20 of 22 games.

Josiah Sanders (12 points, 6 assists, 3 rebounds, 5-9 FG) career-highs in points, assists, field goals made and field goals attempted. Led the Buffaloes in assists for the second time this season. Averaging 9.0 points and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 8 of 15 FG (.533). The three games before that he had been held scoreless with three total rebounds.

Fawaz "Tacko" Ifaola (6 points, 6 rebounds 3-3 FG) career highs in points, rebounds, field goals made and field goals attempted. Has made all five of his field goal attempts in 10 appearances.

Bangot Dak (14 points, 7-8 FG) shot 87.5 percent from the field, the best mark by a Colorado player this season.

Jalin Holland (5 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists) career high in assists.

ABOUT THE BEARS: Baylor is 12-9 overall and 2-7 in the Big 12. The Bears return home after earning their second conference win on the road against West Virginia 63-53. The Bears are averaging 84.0 points per game, shooting 48.1 percent from the field. Baylor is second in the Big 12 in offensive rebounds per game with 13.24. That mark is also good for 36th in the country. On defense the Bears are allowing 75.4 points per game, and have held opponents to 43.2 percent shooting. Baylor defends the rim well with 4.7 blocks per game, good for fourth in the Big 12. With the success on the offensive glass, Baylor is also third in total rebounds per game with 39.29. That mark is third in the Big 12 and 44th nationally.

The Bears are led by redshirt sophomore guard Cameron Carr. He leads the team in scoring at 19.4 points per game. Carr excels in efficiency, shooting 52.1 percent from the field which is 11th overall in the Big 12 and second among Big 12 guards. Baylor has three other players who average double figures in scoring: freshman guard Tounde Yessoufou (17.3), fifth year guard Obi Agbim (11.1), and senior guard Dan Skillings Jr. (10.2). Outside of scoring Yessoufou creates turnovers. He averages 2.00 steals per game, second in the conference and 44th nationally.

THE SERIES: This will be the 29th meeting between Colorado and Baylor with the Buffaloes holding a 17-11 advantage. The teams met for the first time in 12 years last season in Colorado's first year back in the Big 12. Colorado took that meeting 76-74 in Boulder. Baylor holds a 6-3 advantage in Waco. Colorado's last win there came on March 1, 2003 in a 72-59 victory.

These mid year former pro transfers haven't really changed the calculus for the teams that have added them which is interesting.

James Nnaji who was drafted in the 2023 31st overall but never played in NBA and made headlines when he joined Baylor mid year played 1 minute in their last game. Have gone 2-6 in the 8 games since he's been on the team.

Charles Bediako for Bama has played a bigger role but Bama has gone 1-2 in the 3 games he's played.

Feel like it's definitely impacted Chemistry and it's already flawed teams trying to add talent late and it impacts the current role allocation and chemistry within the team.

So glad it hasn't worked.

I think most of us who enjoy, follow, cover or participate in the sport don't want professional bounce backs onto college rosters. But if this is going to be allowed, then it needs to happen in the fall semester, not midseason. The situations at Bama and Baylor are rank bs.

Agreed now Amari Bailey the former 1 and done and UCLA who has played 10 games in the NBA is trying to join the mix. Feel like this will get pushed to somebody being a 2 way player trying to rejoin because they can make more money in college. Hate we are in this limbo were the NCAA can't do anything because they will get sued to oblivion and judges are siding with the players.

Everyone knows something needs to happen but nothing will happen from the NCAA and the government doesn't want to get involved seemingly. Just don't see the end in sight.

Anyone know what the insight is on Malone? Has he been injured? Is it the rotation and Tad going with Dak/Taco? Malone was hot and cold last season, but during the end stretch he won some games for us--more solid in B12 play. He gives us some needed beef down low, his shooting % is a little down but now he hardly even takes any shots. I think he is decent on defense and is not as foul prone as last year. Also, he is not nearly the TO machine as last year. Any insight--different defensive approach toward the perimeter? Tad change the offense approach for less TOs? Before, Malone was somewhat steady eddy, CU got what they got and he was basically a known quantity in his role. I'm just wondering because his minutes have vanished.

KOA said his shoulder has been injured for awhile.

Yeah, but if it is allowed to continue you'll see more and more players who actually have a substantial impact with their teams. Just because it's causing ripples now, doesn't mean it won't cause tsunamis eventually. Kill it now.

Tad FINALLY realized...

It will be interesting to see what a few days practice has done. They only had 1 practice before the game, after Tad decided on the change. A review of the game video and a a couple of practices, could make for a real improvement.
I don't guess there's any friction from who starts - this is a together group.
This is nice. Not a new team, but enough differences it's almost like starting over.

Tad usually has his teams make a move sometime in Feb/March where we ask where that team had been all year. Even last season's team became a tough out against Houston and others at the end.

I’ll bite…I haven’t done the math, but I’m pretty confident if you cut big boy’s stats down per minute of play, it could show pretty substantial deterioration.

Aaand not saying I’m missing his minutes.

Our front court is a hot mess.

Fortunate to not dig a bigger hole while unable to make shots these first 10 minutes, but it's starting to get deep.

Baylor had a good defensive game plan and we looked shell shocked from the aggression and athleticism.

I like that we've settled down and Baylor's ungodly shooting has cooled off. We've played very good defense for the most part.

Just checked the box score.

Shooting is one thing, but the real problem tonight is offensive flow. 2 assists against 5 turnovers. Meanwhile, Baylor is 5 assists with no turnovers. Team basketball with ball security is a good thing.

Inman isn't ready for primetime yet.
Deleted a response because I was thinking Holland instead of Inman.

I agree.

But I also think that Inman needs to get some run so we can see if he can develop under game pressure or not. I can't answer right now whether I believe he is NIL-worthy for committing to keep for 2026-27 (and that seems to be the calculus these days - not whether he could have a significant role on a winning team as a junior & senior).

That's fair. I have been arguing to play the freshman all year so I should be glad that its finally happening.

I'd like to see Inman substituted in with a set play in mind for him to shoot a three. He's a great shooter and if he can prove that he can hit them in a game like this then I think you have a clearer picture as far as committing resources to him.

Inman, Crawford, Kosarras are all busts.

The inconsistency of this team. Doesn’t help Baylor is just drilling any three they look at right now
