Hope the Buffs finish the regular season STRONG, starting with another chance for a signature win against the #9 (AP) Bruins, who will I'm sure be extra-motivated for a win after losing to (5-11 in Pac play) Udub in Seattle their last game last Sunday.
(In the most current RPI ratings released after last weekend's games, the Buffs are at #73, while UCLA is #12 and USC #83. I'm bummed that the Massey Ratings aren't used (from what I've heard, at least in other sports) at all by the NCAA Selection Committee, as the Buffs would be in solid contention for a bid with their #42 rating in that calculation.)

Go Buffs!!!

There isn't a detailed preview I can find yet, but there is a nice feature on freshman Jaylen Sherrod that, at the end of the article, does include a little on the weekend. -

BOULDER - It is not often that a high schooler from Birmingham, Ala., commits to play their collegiate basketball for the Colorado Buffaloes.

In fact, Colorado freshman point guard Jaylyn Sherrod is truly one of a kind, being the first player in program history from the state of Alabama. It isn't just this distinction, however, that makes Sherrod stand out. Whether she is on the court or in the classroom, Sherrod can't help but separate herself from the pack. If Sherrod is involved, it's showtime.

Sherrod's high school list of accolades is about as long as the trip from Birmingham to Boulder. She helped Ramsay High School to area and regional championships with a 25-5 record as a senior, was a three-time letterman, first-team All-Birmingham, and two-time All-Area selection. A three-star recruit according to ESPN.com, she started to think about where she may take her next step in life. One place that certainly wasn't on her list to start was the Buffaloes.

"I didn't know anything about Colorado," Sherrod said on her prior knowledge of CU. "I knew it was a big-name school but coming from the south we don't hear much about Pac-12 and schools like this. It was actually kind of shocking to me when they reached out."
....

The Buffs close out the regular season with a pair of games on the road this week. CU opens the trip on Friday at No. 9 UCLA (9 p.m. MT). It will be the second meeting between the two schools this season. UCLA led by 25 in Boulder, before Colorado stormed all the way back to just to fall short by three, 65-62.

The regular season will come to a close against Southern California on Sunday (1 p.m. MT). The Buffs took care of business against the Trojans in the first meeting, securing a 66-53 win over USC in Boulder.

I don't have a lot of confidence at UCLA, but the team probably does with the way they took over the last game against the Bruins to come back on them.

I'm pretty confident that USC can be a win if the team is right for that one.

The UCLA game doesn't start until 10 PM my time and I'm not staying up to watch. I'm hoping that bodes well for an upset--even though I am not at all confident it will.

Obviously a ways to go in this one, but the Buffs shooting 27% vs. 62% for the Bruins puts the Buffs down 12 (8-20) after the 1st quarter.

The Buffs "win" the 2nd quarter and are now down 8 at the half. Keep the momentum going Buffs!

Tough first half but fighting hard. Their guards are killing ours but front court is hanging tough.

The Buffs hung pretty tough in the 2nd half, but couldn't put enough dent into the bruin lead. Time to move on to face the trojans on Sunday.

I did not see the game. From the stats, a big improvement in free throw shooting and Mya had 22 points.

Looks like nobody else could score and that does not win games. Also too many turnovers.

Lost by 10 at the #9 team in the nation. Hard to be upset at that result, but still sucks to lose.

It's that they got killed in the 1st quarter, but I'm not upset that they lost on the road.

I will be unhappy if they get beat tomorrow.

Sherrod has definitely hit the freshman wall, she’s shooting 20% over the last 6 games and last night was one of the worst PG games I’ve seen in a long time1 for 12, 0 assists and 5 TOs. Give Sila some minutes and let Sherrod get refocused and ready for the NIT. Sherrod has over performed and had a good freshman campaign, but Sila deserves an opportunity to lead tomorrow

Agree on Sherrod and more minutes for Sila. Sila got injured a few games ago. Is that injury limiting her playing time? I do not know the answer to that question.

Jaylyn has played a ton of minutes for a freshmen. Her body is tired and needs a break.

Didn't get to see it, but from the stats looks like the Buffs just couldn't get enough offense going today, and endied up shooting only 30.5%, including 0-12 from 3.

With the exception of Aubrey Knight, that was one of the worst played games of the season.

Agreed. Mya and Emma did not show up and Sherrod is really struggling 5-25 shooting and 8 turnovers last 2 games and shooting 20% last 6 games. I’m also starting to see a lot of attitude from players; flexing and talking to players and the crowd when they are down by 15 or 20.

did not see game, but noticed they had different lineups and rotations. Was there any reason given for that? Unless there is a serious infusion of talent next year and Sherrod takes a huge leap it is going to be status quo for another year. I am back in the J.R. needs to go camp.

Unless the women's program can have success keeping some of the better in-state players here, it's a .500 - .600 program.

Amazing what wearing heels does.

I would take 500 in the pac 12. No reason, that AZ and AZ st can do that that CU can not. I like J.R.'s positive vibe but I continue to wonder if she can recruit top talent to the program. Need to find some ladies with some toughness, imo I do not see a lot of that from the "leaders" of the team. She has finished 5-13 every year except for last year and I know they played some team tough but just not impressed in the talent of the team. Best thing for next year is Sherrod and Knight will be back
