Given that it’s a first party Sony title I’d say the reviews are disappointing. “Lavishly produced generic game” isn’t what I’m looking for from a first party title.
oh yeah, I didn't look at metacritic. 72 seems pretty meh
I watched some early plays of it and the game just seems empty and boring.
Or could be that the survival horror genre is overdone? That's why the Doom reboot was received favorably in 2016 and Eternal will probably be received favorably this year or next year. Before the Doom reboot, the last Doom game to come out was Doom 3 back in 2004 which means Doom went 12 years between 3 and the reboot.
Resident Evil 2 remake was well received as well. I really liked the Resident Evil remake when it came out for the Nintendo GameCube. Capcom keeps pumping out those Dead Rising games although and the reviews reflect that. Devil May Cry 5 got favorable reviews since it was the first DMC game in awhile too. I'm hoping that Capcom brings the RE3 remake next instead of another chapter in the RE universe.
Fear not, Microsoft and Sony will keep on pumping such titles as a way to build up their streaming game library down the road.
the zombie thing got tired awhile ago, but if the game is good it'd be fine. I was over zombie games when TLOU came out, but the game was so freaking good it didn't matter.
Days Gone just never seemed to look overly interesting. I think some people forced interest in it, but now it's out and it's meh.
Doom is survival horror? Huh?
A good game is a good game, a bad game is a bad game.
EA and Activision certainly didn't seem overly concerned the genre was overdone when they released WW2 themed titles 12 months apart from each other. And if there's one thing that's been overdone, god knows it's WW2 themed FPS games.
game still looks weird as hell, but at least it looks like a video game now
Yeah. I’m very intrigued, but have no idea what to make of it.
Starting to fill up my gaming calendar after the recent E3 announcements. The games I want at this point are:
Final Fantasy VII Remake
Mario & Sonic At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics
For those who love the old metroidvania games. Created by the original Castlevania SOTN developer. Supposed to be pretty good. On almost all platforms.
I loved SOTN back then on the PS1. I'm giving it a little more time before I pull the trigger for that game.
Finally saw this countdown for EA Access on the PS4 and the date it releases:
Final Fantasy VII Remake appears to be PS4 exclusive and not coming to other platforms. Things can always change although.
