ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of Colorado men’s golf team struggled along with most of the field in tough conditions here Friday, as the Buffaloes are tied for 12th after two rounds of the 59th annual New Mexico William H. Tucker Invitational.
Arizona State was the only school to keep things under par, and did so in both rounds in posting a remarkable 5-under 571 team score. That leads host New Mexico by some 11 shots, as the Lobos were in with a 6-over 582. Brigham Young is in a distant third at 15-over 591. Gusting winds, up to 30 miles per hour, prevailed much of the day.
The Buffaloes were in 16th place after the morning round, struggling to a 25-over 313 score; but CU rallied in the second round to shave 10 strokes off that total, putting the seventh best effort into the books (303) which led to a 616 score, tying the Buffs with Arizona and New Mexico State.
