Helmets getting knocked off.

In the olden days NFL film, you seldom saw a helmet knocked off a player's head. They used to fit pretty tight. Advances led to the 4 point chin strap...more secure but maybe the fit of the helmet was looser. The last few years it seems helmets come off every few plays. Dreads or big hair may be the cause, not sure. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed the frequency of helmets coming off and if so, what do you think is the cause? Johnny U had dental floss holding his on his crew cut head, and same for Favre, Aaron Rogers etal lately. Curious about the observation.
