WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – For the second time this year, University of Colorado junior Emily Hunsucker has been named the Pac-12 Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. The honor comes on the heels of Hunsucker’s school record breaking performance of 197 feet and eight inches in the hammer throw at the Fum McGraw Quadrangular last Saturday. She broke Janet Visosky’s 15-year-old record of 196-10 from 1998 on her final toss of the meet. Hunsucker won the event by almost 17 feet. Colorado State’s Jenna Sliwinski was the runner-up with a mark of 180-11. Hunsucker currently ranks 15[SUP]th[/SUP] in the NCAA Division I and is fourth in the Pac-12 Conference. She was previously awarded the same honor on March 19 for her performance at the inaugural Jerry Quiller Classic. She came close to the then-school record with her mark of 195-10. |
