I just heard the team is going to wear green jerseys tomorrow.

So if you have season tickets, make the additional donation required on top of the regular ticket price, attend games, buy CU gear, drinks, food, etc. while at the game, your are still not doing your part to make the team sucessful?

Please explain where I have failed to live up to my obligation to support the program?

You guys act like you get nothing out of it. You arent buying tickets to support the program, you're doing it to be entertained. Do you dispute that the program doesnt get the money that most of the teams we play do? Just buying tickets doesnt get it done. Our competition doesnt stop there. My point is that we cant expect to be winners and at the same time not step up to fund the program.

If people are going to the game only to wear blue, stay the **** home. I expect the entitlement mentality from spoiled mamas boys like snow, but if grown-up fans would rather stay home then they are getting the performance that they deserve.

As a season ticket holder I just want you to know that I can do what I want in spite of what you say. I do appreciate your point of view but disagree.

wait, so you can't criticize unless you donate?

Do you dispute that having 20,000 fewer people in the stands would be a lot worse than having those people there, but wearing blue?

How about this----if you dont want to wear blue, dont wear blue. If you want to, awesome!!!! Nobody here is going to change anyone else's opinion regarding the state of the program, what the message really says, their wardrobe choice, etc.

And if you have extra money---donate it!! If you dont, or dont want to, then dont!!! We all know how things work---the more money the department has, the more likely they'll recruit better (facilities) and win in the long run (see texas). However, we also know our budgets. My dad donates a **** ton to the program. He has it. He's a great Buff. I donate a little bit (maybe a higher percentage of my income, but, still just a tiny bit :sad1: ) and have season tickets. Im a great Buff. My sister doesnt donate ****, she cant afford it and doesnt want to send the message that losing is okay. She's a great Buff.

I understand that you do not agree with the direction 87 has taken, and personally I would not wear the blue-- I think the constant emails to Bohn and companyis more effective. That said, I can appreciate the fans trying something to get through to those that have to make the change, and this is what they have dicided will make an impact. You oculd not likely get three of us together and come to a concensus on anything, and we will not all agree this is the way to go. So if we don't agree, then we need to start a website that would put all donations and proceeds toward a real practice facility, if that is what we decide we need to put the money toward. And yes, I think we could get hundreds of thousands of donations over time-- and at 20 bucks a pop average, that could be 4 million plus. Certainly a good start toward a real indoor practice facility. 200k donations at 50 dollars a pop--- 10 million, right? I can't imagine that we could not get 200k CU grads over time to donate just 50 dollars.

So who is up for this task?? Make people see that while fans are protesting the coach, and the win record, other fans are stepping up to help get facilities up to par. And all those who donate could maybe do this every year or two and start adding 10-20 million into upgrades in all sports. We need to stop relying on the faceless 'big donors' to get something done. That is a socialist attitude of letting the big earners pay for everything. The attitude I want is 'All of Buff Nation, coming together to raise up the University, one small donation at a time'.

The buff club has fewer than 8K members and the minimum donation is something like $99 you are dreaming if you think we could rally a large number of people to donate anything.

I've worked on a capital campaign and can tell you that it's always the big donors that get stuff done. Little $50 donations here and there are pleasant, but largely innefective. Sorry, that's reality.

I agree. Im not the man for the job of setting it up, but if someone can get it started, i'll certainly help spread to all the CU fans/alum I know and do my part financially as well. Think everyone would agree this is a good idea.

here's my deal...

i have four season tix and they cost just over $100 a seat/game when you figure in the additional donation for the privilege of purchasing season tix in the first place. tomorrow i will be donating over $400 to the athletic department (actually my donation has been sitting in the university's bank since last spring when i purchased my tickets).

the reason i purchase the tix, and will continue to do so, is because i think it is important to support the university and the student/athletic programs that are associated with it. i also like to watch college football, and i take some ownership and pride in the team, both at the game and wherever i go for business or pleasure.

people who pay their own hard-earned discretionary money to go to the games have purchased a right to make their opinions known as long as it is within the confines of law and order. this seems to me to be a legal and civil protest and the intent has been clearly stated by the organizers.

last time i checked, this is still the united states of america and i can choose to come to the game wearing whatever the **** i want; as can anyone who purchases a ticket.

so...wear whatever the **** you want to the game tomorrow...just show the **** up.

Ever hear the saying: Sell to the masses eat with the classes, sell to the classes eat with the masses? A lot of little guys is more effective than a few big ones. Its just a matter of getting them to realize it.

Not to burst any bubbles, but 200k alumns?? Do the math - assuming 7k graduate from CU every year you're talking about every single graduate from the last 28 years giving 50 bucks. Sacky is right, it's the big donors that really grease the wheels.

Now, I'd rather have people wearing blue than not showing up, but I tend to agree that it's unneccessary. DiStfano, Benson, Bohn, Hawk - none of these guys need a crowd full of blue to let them know that fans are pissed beyong belief - that message has been received. The blue just seems like piling on and gets us in the news for the wrong reasons again, but I'd still prefer blue fans to no fans.

Oh and we're not really wearing green, right?

im not saying 200k alums, but, what if 10k donated something. That'd be a big help. Not like Boone Pickens eath shattering, but, a help.

My "immature" brother of all people who partied away in college with McChesney, Tufts and Wilder, talked me into not wearing blue tomorrow. I was shocked, what a leader the little bro is turning into!:wow: I bleed black and gold!

Well said, BF.

Oh and we're not really wearing green, right?

We have a lot of fans that are not alums. Some of our most committed. Only the helmets are going to be green.

Since when are the students ever in a position to donate large amounts of money? Regardless that the coach now seems to think that the students are nothing but a bunch of whiny rich kids, by and large students are NOT swimming in cash to donate to CU. The wearing blue is largely a student initiative and I think the vast majority of those who will be wearing blue tomorrow will be the students.

I have nothing but admiration for those who came up with the idea and organized this large effort.

I'm not an alum, but lifetime buff. Try not to sound too arrogant, but I have been to more CU games in my life than the average alum can sniff. Oh I also give $$, well the $$ that I can give.

Look at all the non-alums on these boards. Junk, DBT, 'rino, Lt., 4DB, Irish. All of these guys bleed B&G. We have a ton of good fans that never went to dear ol CU.

That's catchy - and irrelevant. I'm saying this from experience. If you need $10MM, you don't go after 200,000 people at $50/each. You go after 15 people with $500,000 each, 10 people with $100,000 each, 20 people with $50,000 each, and 5,000 people with $100 each.

Imagine if Bohn decided to go with throwback powder blue jerseys for the game tomorrow - that could throw a serious wrench in this protest.

Doubt he'll do it, but would be a pretty slick damage control move.

Look at the biggest charities: United Way, Salvation Army, Red Cross, Thier bread and butter is small donations. Which fund raiser were you working with?
