I want leaders

I agree with you, liverflukes. We definitely need more alumni donations and better facilities.

I was not in any way calling out DBT. He expressed frustration about the progress of recruiting, and I share that sentiment. If we get Crawley and Rippy like you suggest, I'd be thrilled. I'm not very optimistic about it though.

Ultimately, Embree and co. are selling a vision of what the program can become. That vision got many guys who I think can become very good players for us to commit even before Embree had coached a game, because they believe we are going in the right direction (for the record, I think we are too). But selling that vision becomes a little more difficult after a three-win season. I have no expectations of an immediate turnaround, and I recognize the rest of the league is stepping up their game. I'm simply saying that if we show progress next year (and I think making a bowl game would certainly qualify), it will be a little easier for recruits to buy into the vision of the program that Embree is selling. This is especially true for the guys who have offers from nearly every major program. Winning is not the only thing recruits look at, but it matters...A LOT. Some kids can buy in early because they believe so much in what a coach is saying, but others want to see tangible evidence of success before they commit.
