First, they hired Gus Malzahn away from Auburn to be their head coach last December. $850k base salary (Embree makes $725k base).

Then, last month they announced their facilities project (set for completion in 2014):

Somehow, they were also able to secure Liberty Bank as a naming sponsor for their 31k seat stadium this year ($5 million donation).

Back in 1991, CU was coming off a national championship and Arkansas State was joining D1 for football. It took 21 years, but they have surpassed us in current relevancy on the college football landscape.
