Intentional Grounding

Okay, if you can honestly watch the replay and conclude Wood wasn't just trying to get rid of the ball (i.e., he was actually trying to complete that pass). He threw it in the direction of the receiver to avoid the intentional grounding penalty, he just didn't throw it close enough. I have a sneaking suspicion you would feel differently about the play if the tables were turned.

What is the distance from the receiver within which the ball has to land in order to avoid the intentional grounding penalty? Can you point out that number in the rules?

BTW, I also think the non-call on GG's dump at the feet of a blocking receiver was also the proper call, so you can save the whole "homer" approach you took with Tini....

Both should have been non-calls. Graysons ended up close to an eligible man and looked to be at the LOS. Wood had an eligible man and the ball would have been close to him except he was hit in the process of throwing it.

As far as taunting it was a MWC crew. That league does nothing but taunt, they are also known for being late to the pile and lots of other dirty crap. If the officials called it all they would never finish a game.

Unfortunately everything in football has gotten faster over the years except for officiating. Don't know how it gets fixed but somebody needs to figure out a way to get the officials up to the speed of the game.

No, I can't. I never claimed it existed. The proper rule was pointed out earlier in the thread by another poster. "Receiver in the vicinity." That is why "GG's dump at the feet of a blocking receiver" (feel bad for that guy) was not intentional grounding, but Wood's flutter pass that didn't get within ten yards of a receiver was.

I had a serious problem with the officiating in this game. It seemed really one sided. Especially when it came to Richardson who I thought was mugged several times. The no calls on some PIs made me pretty angry.
