Is 2014 a Make or Break Year for CU?

The good news is we have what 18 starters back, along with some guys that weren't starters that should be able to make significant contributions?

Now the bad news....show me where we get 6 wins considering we don't have P Rich:

CSU
@Massachussetts
Hawaii
ASU
@Arizona
UCLA
@USC
Washington
@Cal
Oregon State
@Oregon
Utah

I mean it could happen, but we would have to pull off a couple upsets without losing any of the winnable games (Non-conf games, utah, Cal)

They should be 3-0 to begin the year, beating Cal/Utah are good possibilities. So get another win -- Oregon State at home?

Beat me to this post. UofA on the road and WA/UCLA at home have potential for upsets. Not saying we will get the 6, but we have a fighters chance next year.

If games and seasons went by the chalk, you'd never have teams improve or regress. Sports would be boring. Hell, maybe the OL gels, Sefo breaks out, and we win 8 or 9 next year. That hope is what keeps me engaged in this.

He might be a great coach but he can't recruit, so send him into the nfl!

CSU - pfft. that's a win
@Massachussetts - Umass is terrible. that's a win
Hawaii- Hawaii on the mainland? win.
ASU- After Graham jumps ship to Texas in two weeks, this program will fall apart. Win.
@Arizona- They graduate 18 and Carey is gonna announce he's leaving in two weeks. Win.
UCLA- Altitutude + cold + Socal team = win.
@USC By now Sark will be spending half his time at the casino. Win.
Washington Boise HCs never win in boulder. Win.
@Cal Worst team in the Pac 12. Win.
Oregon State Mannion and cooks were their entire offense, and they'll be gone. Win.
@Oregon The Helfrich implosion will have started in earnest. Win.
Utah We owe those guys from this year. Win.

In conclusion, prepare for 2014 Colorado Buffaloes, National Champions.

this has been a lesson in rationalization.

I like to think about it this way... it's almost like the Buffs are making three big offseason acquisitions on defense with Wright returning from a redshirt, Witherspoon signing and Rippy transferring. On offense they've got arguably two of their best offensive linemen returning from injury. Two tall receiving tight ends (one of whom had an offer from Miami) and 3 WR's redshirted last season. (Plus Walker is coming in.) We'll miss PRich but we should have a deeper receiving corps.

I also like to think about how a rotation of 3rd year junior DTs is much better than a rotation of true sophomore DTs and a returning starter sophomore QB is much better than a true freshman QB.

I wouldn't be surprised if we made it to a bowl honestly.

We are due for a real upset in the PAC, beat somebody who is a lot better than us but who has a terrible week and/or completely overlooks us.

Stanford could have beaten Utah 15 times straight this year but the one time they played Utah destroyed their NC hopes.

We are due to "get one" soon.

They don't have to reach a bowl game by next year, but would show they were ahead of schedule if they did. I think even 5 wins, and I'd be happy with the progress of the program. 3 wins or less, and the pressure would be on them in 2015.

When did this thread stop being about people on Allbuffs we don't like?

I click on it expecting something interesting and...well, I like to talk about football as much as the next poster (unless that poster is Duff Man, and he won't shut the **** up), but when our threads get silly speculative I lose interest. There's no make or break for HCMM in the next three years.

And Snow is an asshole, if I haven't mentioned that already.

Shut up.

5 quality wins and I would be happy. Quality meaning beating the crap out of CSU and UMass... then winning the games we should UH and ?.... no more close games with the smaller programs.

Not sure of our schedule but I think the leap forward for us will be beating Utah. We need to start beating them and Wash St. every year. If both of those guys are on our schedule I think we have a 25 percent shot at 5 wins next year. Likely we will win 4 again.

Would be meaningful if majority of our opponents needed to play first string in the fourth quarter. The "Uncle" rule got a bit old this year. Kool Aid aside, I think they make It there for all but maybe a game or two. But we shall see.....

I hate the 'uncle' rule of them pulling their starters in the fourth quarter for sure. However, I loved it compared to the majority of the teams pulling their starters in the second quarter last year. And a few teams pulled them in the first. So......progress.

Yes it will take me a while to forget that Fresno St. game...... Causes a shudder. Think they coulda scored a hundo. But, onward and upward! I agree with last year being an improvement.

I have to give most of you bitches credit. Everytime I want to write off the Buffs because of the horribleness of the last seven years, as well as articles like the one I read yesterday about one dip****'s view about our future prospects, your upbeat attitude helps me to be optimistic. Rick, watch for my check.....it is in the mail.

Only if the defense drastically improves. They gave up 44 two years ago, 38 this year. In PAC 12 play it's even worse. Lower it another 6 points next year and they have a chance at six wins.
