Okay, maybe this story isn't a big deal, but given Coach Neuheisal's past, and whatnot:

"USC and UCLA played nearly a month ago, but the rivalry rages even as the Trojans prepare for the Rose Bowl against Penn State.

USC assistant coach Ken Norton Jr. on Sunday lashed out at UCLA for allegedly using him as bait to lure recruits to Westwood and discourage them from joining the Trojans."

"USC participated in the annual Beef Bowl at Lawry's Restaurant in Beverly Hills."

Try as he may, but Neuweasle can't top this last nugget.

of course the other thing that's suspicious to me is (as was mentioned in another thread here at AB) was Dwayne Walker sort of "on the market" for the NMSU job. seems like it's not entirely implausible that Slick got what he wanted out of Walker (recruiting and "keeping the team" continuity) in year one and now the competing ego of a successful coordinator is less desirable for the Rick-meister.

Walker was always gone, no different than Watson at NU 1 or 2 years tops and they'd both be out.
