On the road this week.

Wednesday at 5-3 Delaware.

Friday is a major national game against 8-1 Stony Brook (ranked #8), which has beaten ranked Towson, Northwestern and USC. Only loss was on the road to #3 Florida.

A few comments I have-
  • Per the NCAA webpage (http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/lacrosse-women/d1/inside-lacrosse-poll) , great to see the ranked teams the Buffs have beaten are generally staying ranked themselves, which I assume should help build the NCAA tournament "resume" for both selection and seeding purposes (assuming of course the Buffs, and those teams, keep winning). Penn State is at #6 in the 2 polls I could easily find, while DU is at #14 in both and Northwestern #19/ 16. (UMass is the one team that I believe was ranked when the Buffs played them who are now no longer showing in the rankings (or even receiving votes).)
  • Also looks like some more challenges and opportunities ahead. Future opponent Stoney Brook has moved up to #6 in both of the polls the NCAA page shows, while USC is at #9/ 10 and Stanford is at #19/ 1st receiving votes (or #21). (The Buffs are playing these 3 all in a row between March 31st and April 14th, with Stanford being the only home game.)
  • From my normal source to find detailed RPI info in all sports*** , looks like the 1st RPI for women's lacrosse came out on 4/10 last year, so assume we'll see how the Buffs are looking there for the 1st time in a week or two. For comparison, looks like the Buffs were at RPI #27 last season at NCAA tournament selection time. (*** https://extra.ncaa.org/solutions/rpi/default.aspx , I've usually used for volleyball, but it has info on all the RPI-using sports. I know for volleyball, there was actually another site that calculated unofficial RPI from pretty much the beginning of the season, but I have no idea if lacrosse has anything similar.)
  • Looks like whichever teams make it to the final 4 at the Championships this year will be playing in a BIG stadium, as they're playing it at Gillette (AKA Patriots) Stadium. (Tickets at http://www.ncaa.com/tickets/lacrosse-women/d1 .) Actually, don't know if the tournaments have always been coordinated this way or not, but this Final 4 would probably be a fun experience for big general lacrosse fans, as it looks like the men and women are both playing their final 4 at Gillette, with the women playing on May 26th and 28th and men 27th and 29th.
Edit- Of course, wanted to mention all the above is irrelevant to the team itself- for them it's all about beating the next opponent- the 5-3 Delaware Fighting Blue Hens.

I couldn't figure out if the video might require a subscription or not, and neither team has a preview article up about the game to clarify the situation. (I think the "All Access" label Delaware uses at some schools signifies they have a premium package they require people buy to watch a lot of the live games/ events, but have no idea if that's the case with the Blue Hens, and whether ALL events are premium, or there might be exceptions.)

Just in case, live stats should be available at http://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=156366 .

On a side note, #3 Florida plays @ #1 Maryland tomorrow 3/29. If we win both of our games this week, we could move up another spot in the rankings depending on the outcome of this game.

...and I concur, **** StonerBrook!!!

Preview article now out - (It does say free video will be available for both games.)

Just noticed that Youtube has an ~4 minute mid-season review and preview, centered around an interview with Coach Elliott. (Lacrosse seems to have/ keep the lowest profile on this kind of thing, so great to see.)

Buffs call timeout with 3:48 remaining. Still up 8-7. Believe each team may have 3 turnovers since the last goal, with the last by the Buffs was a heart breaker as it was a fast break attempt where the Buff was alone in front of the goal but the pass didn't quite connect.
