Leftover Big 12 schools would absorb the Mountain West

All the speculation up to this point has been that the MWC would invite the likes of KU, KSU, ISU, MU and Baylor. The thinking was that this would make it almost assured that the MWC achieved BCS status. But that never made much sense. The Big 12 already has BCS status and will only be in danger of losing it after defections from as many as many as 8 of its programs. The remaining programs will have to do what the Big East did after the ACC poached Miami, Virginia Tech and Boston College... expand and survive.

In fact, the Big 12 could end up taking all 10 members of the MWC and creating a 16-team conference.

Would be interesting... but there are just too many nobody's in that conference to make it too prestigious. Baylor, ISU, CSU, Wyoming, San Diego State...

Makes much more sense for the B12 teams to combine with the best of the MWC, and leave the others behind, while taking the B12 name and BCS berth. IMO. Utah, BYU, TCU, AFA, Boise, KU, KSU, Baylor, ISU, Mizzou, New Mexico and UNLV.

That would actually be a pretty respectable conference right there.
