Hawk looked like the right guy at the time. If we hadn't hired him any number of other major conference teams would have. Nobody realized at the time that he didn't have a clue how to build a program, all he did was keep an already built BSU program on track.

GB had a HUGE hand in this whole Fubar, as well: COULDN'T keep his mouth shut and didn't keep his players under control.

And don't forget "Disappearin' Dickie" Tharp! Where was he during the whole mess? Watching his kid play baseball in Evanston, in Mexico working on his tan, scooping up back-door CU deals for Liquor Mart, accepting dubious tax deduction donations of decrepit private jets?
All of the above???
 
Rivals Main Board is turning out some quality graphics. A real shame this isn't true.

Not only that I remember when Cody signed on National Signing Day, it being applauded. Lots of revisionist history on the Hawk era. Personally, I was a little skeptical of him from the beginning, but I didn't think he'd be a failure. And I was pretty confident in him after beating OU and then Nebraska that year, that we were on the right track.
