Mac considered one of the best off-season hires

Berry Tramel weighs in, likes Helfrich the best...but that seems due to a bias for their hiring within strategy. He has MacIntyre as the fourth best hire, but you won't like the way he talks about Colorado.

For those of you that don't think its a problem that our AD has has publicly pushed the "money problems" storyline because its just talking about our responsible fiscal management, this is the perception that the national media has picked up on for Colorado. That we're broke and spend no money on anything, despite an AD budget of something like $60 million. There are plenty of ADs carrying large debt loads, many much larger than us (hi TAMU), but they don't publicly trumpet that fact every chance they get.

But, but, but...he didn't bring QB Foles.
Touché. But apparently he realized that and brought in Jordan Gherke. Check out their bios...background's not a whole lot different (junior college guy that nobody really wanted, 2 stars, blah blah blah)

p.s. before the flame spray, I know gherke =/= fales

It's always nice when the national media does there homework, clearly we have no money with one of the highest recruiting budgets, one of the highest assistant pay salaries, are paying our AD #2 money in the Pac 12, and are paying $2MM to MM. Fantastic.

Berry Tramel is about as far removed from "national media" as is humanly possible. He is actually a pretty decent writer, but the width and breadth of his knowledge is incredibly limited. He knows quite a bit about OU and OSU sports. He knows a little bit about OKC Thunder. He has a great knowledge of old time baseball info. That's about as far as his knowledge goes. That being said - his comments are probably pretty much in line with the perception around college football.
