Mangino has gotten a lot out of lower rated recruiting classes for exactly one year. I'm not sure he has done enough to get that kind of salary.
That will buy a whole bunch of tootsie rolls...
Cupcakes ... it´s cupcakes. When you talk about Kansas and Mangino it must be cupcakes.
For that kind of money he can hire a pesonal assistant to put tootsie rolls in each cupcake so he can enjoy the baked goodness of a cupcake with a chewy tootsie roll center.....:smile2:
Hawk will never get that kind of money in CO. Doesn't the CO. legislature restrict how much a state employee can be paid? Hawk is probably the highest paid CO. state employee already. Not saying he doesn't deserve more if the team continues to improve, just think it's not possible.
Absolutely, and in more than one sense of the word.
I don't think there's any specific limit. Barnett's salary was right at about $1.6 million when he got fired.
I think the limitation is that only a certain number of people can be signed to multi-year deals. That is what they are always complaining about when it comes to the assistant coaches.
He's taken them to a couple bowl games, including the Orange Bowl (which they won.)
After the way KU played last season he's probably had a lot more leverage with his bosses.
I hate to say it, but Mangino wont live to the end of his contract, if he doesn't lose some lb's
Country Buffet, here I come!!!!
My favourite headline of the 2007 Football Season
I think Country Buffet my have seen this coming....
Can the U. S. Bankruptcy Court protect Old Country Buffet from the Mangino assault on the all you can eat offer?
Yes, but is one year worth him being the 3rd highest paid coach in the Big 12? I don't think so.
The guy has had one season with a winning conference record. One. That doesn't scream huge contract to me.
Sadly he will need that money for his health care expenses
Perhaps they're afraid he'd bolt to greener pastures if they didn't give him a raise.
bolt ? more like wobble
Some jayhawk douche on rivals said he got his stomach stapled and has lost a lot of weight. If that fatass was on the sidelines making me run during practice I would lose it.
must have been A LOT of staples.
Man, they overpaid.
Or they decided to reward the man that brought them the best season in KU history. Or at least modern KU history.
We could be accused of the same for rewarding Gary Barnett for the same.
And I'm not sure that's a good example of a program doing the right thing for its future.
Where the f*ck is his Princess?
Who does deserve to be the 3rd highest paid coach in the conference then? The only other team in the North to do anything recently wit the same coach is MU and Pinkel was on the hot seat just last year. Outside of OU and UT I don't see any other coaches more worthy right now.
Mike Leach. Hasn't had a truly great team at Tech, but he has had consistently good teams.
I would probably put the Mangina a little ahead of him just because of last season, Spike set the table far better for Leach than what muffin man inherited. But not by much. KU may also have more spare AD cash that TT, don't know.
Mangino's not worth $2.3m but Kansas was in/won a BCS bowl which brings in $20 million or so. I'm not sure if that is split among the Big 12 but if not that bowl alone will pay for him for 8 years at $2.3m.
Like the sig even if this doesn't work.
whoa nellie.... leach has has far better talent at TTech than Magino has had at Kansas. remember Mangino took basically the same players that leach had at OU and help Stoops win a NC in 2000. I put OU and Stoops losing Mangino as a coach right up there with losing his brother Mike to Arizonia. losing leach to coach ttech was like losing chuck long to go coach at some southern california school.... (yawns) no big deal....
Oh yeah, you're a cop...do you think it would work?
