CORVALLIS, Ore. – Colorado soccer embarks on its final road trip of the season, opening the weekend at Oregon State on Friday night (8 p.m. MT).

The trip to Oregon will be a chance for Colorado to gain much-needed points in the Pac-12. The Buffaloes have seventh in the standings with seven points (2-3-1). OSU is still looking for its first Pac-12 win of the season, holding claim to a 0-6-1 Pac-12 record. Oregon (3-2-1) sits ahead of Colorado with 10 points in the standings.

"If you look at Oregon State's record you might not be sure where they are at, but they have been in every game this season," head coach Danny Sanchez noted. "They got a great result on the weekend with a scoreless draw against Cal on the road. They probably feel they are due for a result."

Working in CU's favor is the team's RPI. Colorado is one of four Pac-12 teams with a top 14 RPI. The Buffs start the week with a 14 RPI, behind Washington (2), UCLA (9) and Arizona State (13). CU has an 0-2-1 record against UCLA and Washington. The Buffs have yet to play Arizona State, hosting the Sun Devils on Apr. 11.

"The league is so tight this year," Sanchez continued. "Look at the results up and down. Stanford has three losses. Cal has three losses. UCLA dropped its first match of the season against Arizona State who is having a great season. It's probably the first time in my nine seasons that top-to-bottom there isn't much separation. This year 1-12 is wide open."
...

Scoring has been at a premium across the league this year. UCLA and Arizona State lead the conference with 21 and 20 goals this season, respectively, but they are the outliers. The Buffs are tied with Washington State for sixth in the conference with 13 goals this season. There are seven schools with 12-18 goals this season.

"You look at the seven or eight Pac-12 games last weekend and there were only six goals scored," Sanchez broke down. "In our league, it's tough to get those chances. That's just Pac-12 soccer."

Colorado concludes the trip on Sunday (Noon MT) at Oregon. The Buffs have a four-match unbeaten streak against the Ducks, going 3-0-1 over the last four meetings. The Ducks are coming off a successful weekend against the Bay Area schools, beating Cal 1-0 and earning a 0-0 draw against Stanford.

"Any game on the road is going to be a battle," Sanchez stated. "The weather looks good, which we appreciate. We are excited to get back on the road. It's our last regular-season road trip. Sometimes you get on the road and bond a little bit. Hopefully, we can gut out some results."

Both matches will be live-streamed at CUBuffs.com/WatchSoc.

Only about 10 minutes until the live stream (and assume soon after that the match) begins.

It's scoreless at the half.

Neither goalie has faced what I'd call anything close to a serious challenge so far, with OSU officially holding a 7-5 shot advantage, while CU has the only ONE recorded shot on goal by either team.

Buffs give up a goal to go down 0-1 in the 59th minute. Goalie Hanson has been great with the Buffs so far this season but gives up a rebound I assume she won't be happy about that a beav hits home.

And the Buffs give up a 2nd in the 66th minute off a corner kick where a beaver ends up with an easy header on the far post from about a yard or two away.

And 0-2 is the final.

In what it almost a cliché (which doesn't make it untrue), there are NO easy games/ matches in the Pac 12, especially on the road.

It's a scoreless tie at halftime. Oregon with all 4 shots on goal as the Buff's offensive issues from the last almost 3 matches (they last scored 5 minutes in 3 games ago prior to this one) seem to be continuing, but the defense has staved off some solid duck chances to keep it a 50-50 match. (The Buffs did have their best and probably only real scoring chance late in the half, so hopefully can carry that forward.)

nice win, CU has got to get more consistent scoring. I almost feel if the other team scores 2 goals the game is over. I am starting to wonder if Sanchez and staff has good strategy to play in the pac 12. This scoring issue was there last year as well but somewhat masked by Korniak.

EUGENE, Ore.—A goal from sophomore Tessa Barton and seven saves from goalkeeper Dani Hansen helped Colorado to the weekend split, earning a 1-0 victory over the Oregon Ducks at Papè Field on Sunday.

The win moves Colorado to 7-5-1 on the season and 3-4-1 in the Pac-12. The Buffs registered just two shots on goal, but only needed Barton's first of the season in the 64th minute to pick up the win.

"I am proud of this group," head coach Danny Sanchez said after the win. "We had a disappointing result on Friday, but not necessarily disappointing performances. After a tough result late on Friday to turn around 11 a.m. PT on Sunday against a very good Oregon team on a five-game unbeaten streak is a great result for us on the road."

Hansen stopped all seven shots she faced from the Ducks, picking up her fifth shutout of the season. UO (5-4-4, 3-3-2 Pac-12) outshot the Buffs 17-10 on the afternoon and held an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks.

"We didn't create a ton of chances, but I thought our ball movement in the midfield was better," Sanchez noted. "I thought we're still a little impatient when we got into the final third but got a great goal from Tessa. After that, we were defending, which we expect to do at the point. I'm pleased to get the goal. It's like a broken record by now, but it's tough to score in this league."
...

"I was really pleased with what Haileigh Adams did today," Sanchez continued. "She was dealing with their wide players and really eliminated the crosses. I thought she had a great performance today for us."

Colorado kept the Ducks on its heels and got the payoff in the 64th minute. Hopcroft made a run down the middle of the field and looked to pass it off into the box. Her pass deflected off an Oregon defender and right to Geraghty who fed Barton in the middle of the penalty area. Barton ripped a shot that hit off a UO defender and redirected past Oregon's Leah Freeman.

"I thought her [Barton] movement today was very good," Sanchez explained. "Obviously, scoring the goal, but like I said it's tough to get goals in this league and she had one great chance and buried it. We're proud of her for sticking to it, finding that goal and working hard for us today."

The Buffs weren't credited with a shot the rest of the match and Hansen made two more saves to secure the result.

BY THE NUMBERS
Colorado
Goals:
1
Shots: 10
Fouls: 5
Saves: 7

UP NEXT: The Buffs will be at for the remainder of the regular season. CU's final stretch starts when Arizona comes to town on April 9.

NOTES: Barton's goal ended a 336:36 scoreless streak for Colorado…the goal was her first points of the season…Geraghty's assist was her first of the year, giving her three points (1 G, 1 A)…19 different players played in the field for CU…sophomore Jade Babcock-Chi returned after missing last five matches…Hansen now has 71 saves on the season and improves her saver percentage to .866.
