BOULDER – Colorado women's volleyball team returns home for a matchup against No.19-ranked Stanford Thursday at 7 p.m. MT, followed up by a match against Cal Sunday at noon.

The Buffaloes (14-11, 5-11 Pac-12) have lost three straight but have an opportunity to make history against Stanford (14-10, 9-7 Pac-12), a team the Buffs have only defeated once before in 2015.
...

Thursday match is televised on the Pac-12 Mountain channel, while Sunday's match will be on the Colorado Live Stream.

SCOUTING THE CARDINAL
The Cardinal have lost five matches since seeing the Buffaloes. They have wins against Washington State in Pullman in five sets, Oregon State in four at home and Washington State at home in four. In the losing streak though, the team fell to Washington twice, both Arizona schools on the road and were swept by Oregon at home.

Stanford is led by defending Player of the Week Caitie Baird hitting 4.13 kills per set with a .279 hitting percentage. She also is tied with teammate Kendall Kipp (3.54 kills per set) with 23 aces. Elena Oglivie averages 4.39 digs per set but the real trouble comes from McKenna Vicini who is averaging 1.34 blocks per set. The Cardinal have three players averaging more than a block per set with the team averaging 2.66 blocks per set.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN BEARS
Cal (7-20, 0-16 Pac-12) has lost 17 straight matches, including seven straight sweeps. They have only won five sets in conference this season. The Bears are allowing opponents to hit .238 while only hitting .179 themselves. Katie Smoot leads the team with 3.1 kills per set while Bella Bergmark is second in total kills with 199 and hitting .376. Outside hitter Mima Mirkovic leads the team with 3.18 digs per set.

Went to the match early.

Great to see that senior Zoe Neverdowski is feeling healthy enough to, at minimum, suit up and warm up with her team after being injured for quite awhile (a large part of conference play).

Buffs have the lead most of the 1st set, but Stanford comes back (winning a touch challenge at set point) to take it 23-25.

The Buffs were within 1 at 18-19, but a 4 point Cardinal run is a little too much, and they get the 4th set 21-25 and match 1-3.

(Wierd end to this as Stanford calls a timeout, then AFTER that is over challenge the prior point, and win that for the match.)

The 2nd set was much closer, with Cal holding the lead at 15-16, but the Buffs come back and win it 25-21 to go up 2-0!

nice way to end the season on a win. Going to miss Brynna and Meegan hart. I have enjoyed watching them play

I would not take it as anything close to "gospel" as I saw it posted by an anonymous (at least to me) poster in the Volleytalk thread for this match (https://volleytalk.proboards.com/thread/87143/cal-colorado-noon-free-stream), but they wrote that the announcer mentioned in today's live stream that Ms. Deluzio is planning on taking advantage of her "Covid-19 year" and, at least as of now, maybe (???) intends on come back next season. (I was at the match, so didn't catch the stream myself.)

Article after today's win. (If anyone else is like me and hadn't noticed it yet, wanted to highlight that the final home (senior day) match is a matinee this Wednesday (Thanksgiving-Eve), starting at 1:00 PM.)

BOULDER – Colorado women's volleyball swept Cal 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-23) here Sunday afternoon after recording 11.5 blocks and holding Cal to .160 hitting.

The Buffaloes (15-12, 6-12 Pac-12) played well down the stretch in every set to pull away against the Golden Bears (7-22, 0-18 Pac-12).

Jill Schneggenburger led the team with 11 kills, including five in the second set, as she hit .550 for the game without an error. She was also one dig shy of a double-double with nine. Jahara Campbell added 10 kills with a kill percentage of .179.

Jenna Ewert had a great game at setter, recording her 45th career double-double with 31 assists, 11 digs and four kills on five swings. She is one double-double shy of ninth place in school history, which is currently occupied by Rachel Wacholder with 46.

Defensively, Brynna DeLuzio led the Buffaloes with 15 digs to go along with three assists, a pair of aces and a surprising kill from the libero position. Meegan Hart and Alexia Kuehl had five block assists each and combined for 13 kills, while Maya Tabron adding four block assists with a solo block of her own. Six Buffs recorded at least a pair of blocks in the match.

California was led by Sydney Lilomaiava with 12 kills while Sam Taumoepeau and Lydia Grote added 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Annalea Maeder had 30 assists and recorded a double-double with 12 digs in the match. Libero Tara DeSa had a match-high 17 digs.

The Buffs dominated offensively with a .284 hitting percentage while also recording five and a half more blocks than Cal.

The Buffaloes host Washington for Senior Day Wednesday at 1 p.m. They will conclude the regular season on Saturday at 12 p.m. on the road at Utah.

I watched the stream and that is what the announcer said. He then went on about her wanting to get better at libero.

Don't forget Zoe Neverdowski will be gone, too. CU has missed her play since her injury. She played a little today.
