Iowa couldn't overcome a 17-point first half and lost 71-80.

Pretty good game on ESPN2 right now between VCU and Marquette.

Cal's gonna blow this.

Credit to the Shockers and all, but... come, on man! That's turtling under pressure.

Trying to watch aTm vs Okie Lite. thought I had the wrong channel at first. When did turquoise become OSU's team color?

WTF, Nike? Come on.

Top national recruit Michael Porter Jr. played for 2 minutes in Missouri's opening game against Iowa St. He left the game with a "left leg injury" and hasn't played again in three subsequent games. He also hasn't traveled with the team or sat on the bench during games. Now he's going to see an undefined specialist in KC. Many Missouri fans don't think he'll play another minute there.

Important thing is that he got his dad a good job and helped pull in other recruits. Nothing to see here.

North Carolina vs Stanford about to tip off. I'm interested in this one.

Porter's brother Johntay is one of several very good Freshmen at Missouri.

I hope Michael makes it back. The whole thing is pretty mysterious, but when tens of millions of dollars are at stake, I guess discretion is a good plan .

Back surgery for Michael Porter. Out for the year.

L3-L4 microdiscectomy in Dallas today.

As mentioned with games we care about this Tuesday, South Dakota State beat Iowa. Doesn't mean much for CU, but may help things on balance by pumping up SDSU's RPI points.

Cal vs VCU in the Maui Invitational at 2pm on ESPN2. Can Cal rebound from choking against Wichita State? Doesn't look good, because they couldn't handle the press in the last one and VCU is one of the best pressing teams in the country.

UCLA vs Wisconsin in the Hall of Fame Classic at 5:30pm.

Air Force (3-0) hosts Pacific (0-3) at 7pm. Be real nice if they come into Boulder undefeated on Sunday and can maintain an RPI that helps us.

New Mexico hosts Tennessee Tech in the Emerald Coast Classic at 7pm. UNM is another team we need to have a better season than last year.

Northern Colorado hosts Northern New Mexico at 7pm. Not a D1 game, so hopefully a confidence-building win for them.

Picked up some tickets to the Phil Knight Invitational for Friday afternoon. Second round games with the Duke/Texas/Butler/Portland State group.

Nik, you have more faith in the Iowa RPI hit than I do. I view SD State as a win for us, therefore as long as they're not BAD, they're inconsequential. I was hoping Iowa's RPI would be decent - giving us an excuse ("we lost to a good team") or a boost ("we beat a good team").

See the RPI thread. I think this helps a lot on the chances of SDSU being a Column 3 home game instead of a Column 4. And I still expect Iowa to be a Column 3 as a neutral game based on the SOS in the B1G. Team Sheet improves from this, is my expectation.

Pacific up on AFA 67-60 with 7:00 left.
AFA didn't show up. They were down to Pacific (****ing 0-3 Pacific) 24-44 late in the 1st half. They've got it to a chance, down around 10 as we move to 3 minutes left. Doesn't look good, though.

It's a better day for the Buffs strength of schedule so far today.

Iowa beat a decent UAB squad.
South Dakota State is up 11 early on a decent team from Buffalo.

Arizona's got a good one with NC State at 5pm. Damn shame that one's not on tv.
CSU plays New Mexico State at 7pm. That should tell us quite a bit. Both squads have been up & down so far.
USC hosts a solid Lehigh squad at 8pm on PACN.

And I'll be staying up late because...

At 10:30, Utah (4-0) plays UNLV (4-0) in the MGM Resorts Main Event tourney on ESPN2.

Cal got rolled by frikin D2 Chaminade, 72-96. We might be looking at the Pac-12's cellar dweller team for this season.
