Meet Kirby Smart

Smart would be a decent pick up, however he hasn't had a ton of time as a coordinator at a big program, and as was stated earlier he might just be DC in name with Saban really doing the work. Also, an issue with him (and Charlie Strong for that matter) would be recruiting. Neither have ties to California or many other Western states. Hiring him might get CU one or two players a year from the Southeast, but all in all, he would have to hire assistants with excellent ties in California and other areas out West.
Easily solved.... Depends on his coaching tree tho.

besides, its better having a guy from FL then a guy from ****ING IDAHO

If Bohn is interested in him, I'd think it would be pretty easy to ferret-out how much of the DC responsibility is his. Probably wouldn't take more than a couple phone calls.

1-2 players a year from SEC country could make a big difference. Even in Mac's heyday, that's about what we were getting from Texas (and it had a huge impact). As far as recruiting Cali, why not keep Hagan on staff and switch up his responsibilities? He's done a good job recruiting out there.

Texas is a lot tougher recruiting market than it used to be. Between UT, TT, & aTm, they aren't letting many big names get out of the state. The few that do go to OU & OSU. I guess the easy answer would be to hire someone from down there as an AC, like Hawk is trying with Johnson.
